"Ok, Kai, I'll just be over there, okay?" I said, pushing him for a bit on the swing. "If you need anything, holler. And, don't wander off to anywhere else without first telling me, okay?" I made him promise.
He nodded. "Just go already!" he whined. He hated it when I went over protective on him, but I couldn't help it. I worried that someone would want to take him away from me, and I knew I wouldn't be able to live without him. He was the most important person to me.
I smiled and gave him one last push. "I'll be back shortly," I told him. "Have fun!" I waved as I headed over to the benches so that I could work on my sketches. The park was a great place to work on my art.
It didn't take me long to find something that would be fun to draw, and I immediately set to work. I was so engrossed, and I was nearly done when I looked up and glanced over towards Kai. My heart dropped at the sight, and I immediately closed my sketchbook and ran over to his side.
He was sitting in the sand, obviously had been crying with a bunch of older kids around him. They were picking on a five year old? I didn't think people were that mean. Was there no humanity left in this world?
"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU LITTLE DELINQUENTS DOING TO MY BROTHER?!" I yelled at them, trying to draw their attention away from Kai and onto me.
One of the boys looked a few years younger than me and had shaggy dark hair and an odd shade of red eyes. The other boy looked to be about the same age and had white hair with black highlights. They looked like hoodlums.
"Y...you got the wrong idea! Honest! We helped him!" said the white haired kid frantically.
I glared at them as I dropped to my knees and looked Kai over. He seemed to be okay. There were no markings on him. He was just scared, I guessed. The poor kid. He was small for his age, and people made fun of him for it, calling him a runt. I pulled him in for a hug and glared at the two boys over Kai's shoulder.
"SHINO-SAN!!" the red eyed one yelled behind him. Great! They were calling for back up. I may know a few self defense moves, but I couldn't take on 3 boys, no matter how much younger they looked.
"What did you two do?" The third guy was definitely older than the other two, and he had one brown eye and one blue eye. What was it with these guys and their weird colorations? This one seemed annoyed that he had been called over. He looked down at me and Kai before looking back at the two boys.
I stood up, pushing Kai behind me. "Your friends here were ganging up on my brother! He's only five!" I cried in exasperation.
"You've got it all wrong!" the white haired one cried out. "It was some other kid that had done it, and we were just trying to help!"
I frowned but looked back at Kai who only nodded in agreement of what these boys were saying. Great. I probably looked like the biggest jerk alive. I sighed and forced a smile. "Well, then, I am in the wrong, and I apologize." I ran a hand through my hair nervously. "I'm a little overprotective of my brother, and he gets bullied a lot because he's so small, so I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions."
The older one of the three shook his head. "We understand. It did look kind of bad," he admitted.
"I'm Aaralyn, and this here is Kai," I smiled up at the older boy. I wondered why I had never seen him before. Where did he go to school? He was kind of cute.

“Thank You for letting me stay here,” I said quickly as I turned and walked away. It took all of my courage to walk into the bedroom where we were really alone.
“No problem," Arashi replied lazily, not bothering to get up from the bed, but that was fine with me.
I hurriedly slipped back into my room. I didn't like having to resort to living with a guy, but he was the only one who was willing to do so, and he was pretty lazy, so I could have my guard down slightly and not be so panicky all the time around him.
I laid down in my own bed. Arashi was pretty cool for a guy. He seemed to respect me in a way that I wasn't used to with others. It was a refreshing change.
I rolled over onto my side and closed my eyes, falling asleep.
