“If you're still interested in drawing something, I recommend the view I was using. It’s the prettiest thing, I think, I've ever seen," Shino suggested, gesturing to a bench he had been sitting upon.
I nodded, a blush creeping up into my cheeks. I didn’t talk to many older guys before, so this was nice. He was nice. I cast a glance back towards Kai and the two boys, who were playing tag around the merry-go-round. I smiled at the sight, glad Kai was having fun for a change. He sure deserved it.
We made our way back to the bench, and I sat on one end, opening my sketchbook to a blank page. Grabbing my pencil, I silently got to work. I was barely aware of Shino beside me, working on his own artwork. It was nice being with someone who could enjoy the silence just as much as I did. Two people could have a whole conversation without actually having muttered a single word.
Looking up when I had made significant progress, I glanced over at Shino’s canvas. “Wow, you’re really good!” I exclaimed with a smile. I loved the colors he used. It was so vibrant and brilliant.
He looked up, “Thank you!” he returned my smile.
I stood up then to stretch my legs a bit, looking over for Kai. He was still playing with Shino’s cousins. Good. It seemed they were playing hide and seek this time. It was Kai’s favorite game.
The wind caught my pencil and sent it into the dirt beside Shino. I went to grab it, but my foot caught on the side of the bench and sent me toppling forwards. Goodness, I was such a klutz.
