Ta-Kun had managed to drag me onto the play area. We had climbed up the tower to the very top. "Whoa! Look at that Kaoru!" He pointed. I looked and my eyes widened. The sun was setting and from up here we had a perfect view. "Oi! Kaoru! Tatsuya!" We looked down to see that Arashi had come back. He was standing next to Anora. "It's time to go! School starts tomorrow remember!" We both went down the slide. School! I was so excited! "It's getting late. We'll take you guys home." We nodded. I waved bye to Arashi and Anora as they headed back to their place. They get to live outside now. Tatsuya headed to his house. "I'll see ya tomorrow Kaoru." I nodded. "I wonder what school will be like?" He shrugged. "Who cares as long as we aren't here right?" I headed home. If we're not here...isn't that want makes Kanayuki-Nii sad....
~Shino/Dog~
I went to bed like Aaralyn had told me to. I ended up having a nightmare and waking up in a sweat. I headed to the kitchen for a glass of water. Mom was sitting at the table looking through something. She looked up when I walked in. "I...I'm sorry mom." She looked up into my eyes. "I j...I just don't like watching you hurt yourself Shino."
My eyes widened when I noticed she was looking at a photo album...an album full of pictures of me! I looked down. "You act so calm. I know you want to protect them...but you also think you deserve punishment." She reached up and touched the side of my face. "I love you so much." I grabbed her hand. "I love you too mom...I just wish I had been normal. If I had..." She put her finger to my lips.
"Shhh. I love you for who you are. You're my son." She looked towards Aaralyn and Kai's room, and smiled. "My wonderfully kind son. And I wouldn't have you any other way." She got up and headed to her room. "Just please be careful. I know you like that girl and her brother. And I'm happy to see your smile again...." I smiled. "I'm happy I found it again too." I got my drink and went back to bed.
When I woke up breakfast was ready. Aaralyn was helping my mom and Kai was setting the table again. I paused a second and took it all in. The air was full of a calmness and joy. I want it to last forever. This thing I had lost hope in. This happiness. Kai smiled at me and I ruffled his hair. "Mornin kiddo!" Aaralyn turned around. I smiled. "Mornin." I saw my mom smile at us. Yeah...this is what family's like.
