Personality: Introverted and shy

Naoyuki is very quiet and withdrawn. He can speak, but almost never does; as a result, people think he is mute or retarded. He is actually very intelligent, and has a talent for beading. His parents left him when he was eight years old, and he now lives with his caretaker, Shizuyo Matsuda. Because of his parents' desertion, he has difficulties connecting with others (he fears rejection and abandonment), and is often misunderstood or even bullied.
Haruko Miyai is his first real friend.
