Well, I kinda got this idea from MashMadness (YOURS WERE AWESOME) and got the desire to do one of my own. Like hers, mine will be broken into different parts. A few of them are... fairly long as "short" posts... but I'm sure you're all used to my excess of writing... hehe
King’s Dominion with Karin
“Please explain to me why you insist on dragging me to this... amusement park,” Griffin grumbled, venom in his voice, as he peered out the window with an unusual intensity. Since it was the middle of the week, the public bus was nearly empty. Only a few other passengers dotted the seats.
Beside the Wyvern, Karin sighed, wondering if he would be this grumpy the entire time.
“Griffy,” she groaned, bowing her head, “it’s to have fun. Haven’t you ever had fun before?”
He turned to stare at her evenly, his eyes radiating seriousness.
“Fun is not a necessity,” he retorted sternly. “I have never needed it to survive.” She wrinkled her nose.
“Well, that’s about to change, mister,” she grinned, pointing out the front window to the looming gate ahead. Droves of people swarmed the entrance, anxiously awaiting their turn to purchase their admission.
“‘King’s Dominion?’” Griffin read, furrowing his brows. “Are the owners royalty?” Karin giggled.
“You’re silly,” she remarked, poking him teasingly in the arm. He only offered a half hearted glare in reply.
Once they had purchased their wristbands, Karin tugged Griffin along, weaving her way through the mobs of sticky children and their frantic parents. When they finally stopped at the base of a twisting green and orange coaster.
Griffin couldn’t hide the anxiety in his eyes.
“Please tell me they do not drop actual anacondas on the riders,” Griffin begged, his face paling as he scanned the metal behemoth.
“Do you always take things so seriously?” Karin demanded gently, raising a single eyebrow. He responded only with a blank stare. “Learn to loosen up! Come on, Griffy. It’ll be fun.”
With wide eyes, Griffin swallowed, and, to hide his uneasiness, he followed her obediently.
Once they were strapped into the seats, Griffin sat with his spine straight, gripping the metal bar with white knuckles.
“Karin, are you certain this is safe?” he questioned, his voice shaking slightly. He squirmed under the restraints, his wings noticeably twitching beneath his coat.
“Relax,” Karin cooed, shaking her head and struggling to hide her amusement. “There's, like, a one in 300 million chance you'll die.” At that, Griffin’s eyes went wide, and his head jerked around to face her.
Before he could speak, a prerecorded voice interrupted, relaying instructions on how to properly ride the coaster. Though it hadn’t seemed possible, Griffin’s grip tightened on the bar, and his eyes darted about.
“Enjoy the ride!” the voice called, and, immediately, the cars lurched forward, moving out of the station and into the gleaming Autumn sunlight.
Griffin now found that he regretted his decision to accompany his colleague.
After twists, turns, loops, and an underwater tunnel, Karin was grinning ear to ear, and Griffin had gone completely pale. He struggled to maintain his composure as they exited the ride, and, noticing his distress, Karin pulled him away from the crowd.
“Are you alright?” she questioned sincerely, worry creasing her forehead. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you so uncomfortable.” He shook his head, tossing her a genuine smile.
“I only have one thing to say about that... roller coaster,” Griffin whispered, licking his lips. Cocking her head, Karin stared at him inquisitively.
“What?”
“Let us ride it again!”
