i find it a disgrace to everything... anyone who likes it is simply a mindless puppet used to give the big companies money for movies that require little to no effort to save money. I mean really... do people actually listen anymore?
And to answer the question. She thought it was a good idea because it uses cheap tactics to get a large audience, and large audiences means more money. It's not just Twilight using these cheap tactics, many films use it. Music industries do it. If you notice modern music uses jingle type tactics to get the music into the listeners head, which makes them believe they like it. Even game companies are joining the band wagon. Games now are short and rather disappointing... all games need is a hype because once the game is sold, they've got their money... they don't care if the buyer likes it or not, they have their money. They also make the games look appealling to the majority so they too have a large audience. Nintendo Wii is the best example of this. Remember the good ol' days when games weren't for everyone. I dont read much but from the looks of twilight it seems books are starting to use these tactics too. But the most sad of all is that anime is starting to do it as well, because east sees what the west is making and they want part of it. Now people may think "who cares, it's just TV and games, there are bigger problems out there. But TV, games and music have the biggest influences on people, and because these types of media are all using tactics to get large audiences, large amounts of people will be influenced by the same things, eventually leading to many people thinking and acting the same. If people were to actually look and pay attention they'll see this happening. Who am I kidding... no one looks anymore... they have the media to do that for them.
Sorry about filling up the comments, i needed to vent a little.
Ahem. *Points thumb toward the "smexy" Edward Cullen.* Honestly, I sat in the car, reading the first book, squealing, "HE'S SOOO HOT!" But after you get through the books, he's either a jerk or a stalker. :P If anything, there should be a book about one of the minor characters in Twilight, like Seth Clearwater or even Jasper. :D
Hate to be a part of the crowd~! XD But heck, you asked.
I dunno. I kind of like it, but I hate soap operas. XD But then again I've only read the first book and watched the movie... >.>
Maybe Stephanie's thoughts were that "Wouldn't it be cool to have both a vampire and a werewolf madly in love with you? Dedicated to protecting you no matter what?" If she liked that kind of idea and would read that kind of story, why wouldn't anybody else? That's how it's usually SUPPOSED to work, isn't it?
well i like it b/c its a love story. but wiht some unrulely complications. like edward being a vampire and bella being human. with teh twist of other vampire clams hunting bella and the cullens. then there are the werwolves., who hate vampires, and a werwolfe is bellas best freind and bella is edwards girlfreind. it a little complicated to explain but thats why most of my friends like it. its edgy, funny in parts, romantic, horrior filled; you have to like that sort of stuff to like the book. but hay dont feel too bad my friend clare read all 4books like 5 or 6 times and still doesnt get it. but over all nofence taken.
I find it interesting that people seem to either love or hate Twilight ~ Laughs ~ I have watched the movie which I quite enjoyed, but haven't been able to find the book in the library so haven't read that yet. Some people say it is like a glorified fanfiction or something ~ Laughs ~ If so then that is why she thought it was a good idea, only she managed to get her fangirl ramblings published and turned into a movie ~ Wishes I could do that, and star in the movie ~
Lovely card though ~ Thumbs up ~ Maybe someone can even give you an answer...unless it was a completely rhetorical question in which case completely disregard this whole thing ~ Monster hugs you ~

I have had the (un)pleasure of flicking through the first book. I didn't even really read it. I read one sentence and thought, "fuck that shit".
As for the film... It looked shite from the trailer. I never saw it.
The guy playing Edward Cullen has wasted his talent on that film.
