you don't like anime? lol, when i said anime, i really meant "anime and manga" (i just really hate the word 'manga')
it's weird about my whole love for anime, i hated it growing up. during junior year of high school, i started reading the manga "death note" (it was in the school library) for a while it was "the only manga that isn't stupid"
a couple of months later... i found myself reading bleach... then inuyasha... then naruto... then ranma 1/2... then rosario vampire... you get the picture.
it is truly a sickness. (damn my high school for having those copies of death note)
it is really cool to know that we are so much alike! awesome!

...You are so much like me it's not even funny!xD Don't worry about sounding stuck up I taught myself how to read as well, because I also loved when my parents read me stories - I knew them by heart and then started reading the books myself. And most of the 'shortcomings' you mentioned, that's me as well...x3 Pretty much all except 'obsessed with anime'XD
