You could render the image but that's a whooole different story and I still can't do that.
I picked the mode "darken only" I think, but that worked because the background was white. So yeah, mess around with the modes and maybe make the contrast of the image a big greater so it stands out? You kinda just have to play with it.

Under layers, it should say "mode" and you can play around with those if you want, sometimes there's something that's perfect for the image. Under "mode" theres an opacity scale--the lower the opacity, the more you can see through the texture.

try lowering the opacity of the texture(see that at the top of the layers window?)and/or changing the "mode" of the texture. (found next to the opacity scale)

OMG thanks!! But Twinkle-chan, hopefully you know i am a VERY slow person desu. I'm so sorry, i did everything you said, but when i did it, the texture just came on top of the picture. So basically it covered it. IM SO SORRY FOR BEING STUPID!!! >_<

I use GIMP too, so that's good.
You first save a texture/whatever you want to use as a texture. Then you go to file: open as layer and pick out that file. Then the layers window should pop up. You can choose opacity and mode (dark light, hard light, overlay, etc. These are fun to play around with and get the desired effect) you can also change the color, brightness/contrast, etc the way you normally would with the image. Also, if you go to layer: scale image you can change the size of the layer so you get the texture size you want and you can also move that layer around.
Does that make sense??
edit: Open the texture layer AFTER you've opened the image.
