"[the] flower who's name; don't call it beautiful"
The entire quote is "Don't say it's beautiful, the flower who's name
If you call it, the legendary flower will burst into petals and scatter." from Moon Signal by Sphere.
All things considered, this anime is simply amazing. It has everything one could search for in a series; action, romance, comedy, with elements of the supernatural. It takes place in an alternate version of the Meiji era, for a bit of a historic theme, as well.
When watching this anime, you experience a myriad of emotions. You can be laughing at one point, and sobbing the next, or even "aww"-ing as the romance is developed. The main characters all have unique personalities and traits, and despite any stereotypes you may find, they each have a depth to their character that may be discovered later on in the story.
The creators did a splendid job blending the elements of this series together. The youkai genre can be slightly overdone, and this is one of the better series of that genre. The voicing was particularly impressive; Mai Nakahara, Yui Horie, Aki Toyosaki, Takahiro Sakurai and Satoshi Hino, who all are quite experienced in their professions, did a fabulous job with the characters.
Despite the light humor and build-up, this anime does have a serious note that may appeal to those who prefer suspense and themes like that. The animation will take your breath away, as they are absolutely gorgeous, especially during the fight scenes that occur in the episodes. Where fight scenes are concerned, we have this beautiful and intesnse battle chant sung by Hozuki and Bonbori that will not let you look away from your screen. All of the OSTs fit splendidly when they are played, and the opening and ending themes are quite catchy.
The plot is fantastically developed, the drama will certainly keep your interest throughout the duration of the series, the music serves its purpose in setting the mood, the animations are nothing short of breathtaking, and the voice actors not only portray the characters effectively, but they really allow you to empathize with what each character is feeling in each situation. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an interesting, yet not too-long series to watch.
