i've never used sai, but it should work. photoshop works, that what i use.

pretty much just take a black and white pic, and color a piece of it.

Also, does the image we start with have to be black and white, and then we add the color ourselves? Or can it be a colored image that we convert to black and white, save for the one piece of color?

this is a GREAT idea! There are so many black and white scans that I love!
I have a couple questions though
