I have a few ideas for redraws. Questions, though: can I change the character's pose? Like for example, if the character is standing, can she be sitting down in the redraw. Also, would it be OK if I modify a character's outfit?

did you read my mind maybe? I was totally thinking about redraw an old piece of mine, and maybe I will try with two of them! (all my old art it's so terrible, urrrrgh) thank goodness there's time since now I will be busy with secret santa and doodles requests! (I will put a link to my old art in my portfolio to show the difference between new and old)

Yeah, I think I need to go back and kind of rewrite what I said in general, it sounds like I was drunk when I wrote the thing up (even though I wasn't??)... I just have some days when I can't form coherent sentences!
You don't have to get rid of it! It's just it sounded like color wasn't as important lol I'm sorry if my comment sounded rude or anything negative (as you said it's hard to get emotions across by messages) I think it just needs rewording. :)

Thank you for mentioning! (I'm sorry if this sounds snarky, I promise I'm not trying to be!! Emotions are difficult over messaging for me sometimes). I see now what you mean about both elements being important. I guess the way I saw it was that I didn't want people to fret over trying to color if that's not usually their focus, but I think in the end I kind of saw it as the things I myself have troubles with instead of considering what other people might do. I can go back in and get rid of that rule!

I'm joining! However, I do disagree about the coloring skills thing. I think that is a great way to show improvement, especially if the artist has been working on color theory, understanding values through color (its a very tricky thing), and understanding lighting. In my opinion, understanding color and value is just as important as anatomy, composition, and other drawing fundamentals.
