The srsness begins-

Have you ever seen an eCard or a wallpaper that was just so totally amazing that it inspired you to go out and make beautiful things as well? It always happens to me! There are some amazing graphic artists on this site, and I can honestly say that most things in my portfolio were in some way influenced by an amazing eCard/wallpaper. So for this challenge, I want you to find an eCard or wallpaper that inspires you, and draw something based on that. Simple enough, right? If you need an example, this was inspired by this.

See, it doesn't even have to look alike. Maybe you're inspired by dynamic color combinations, and you want to draw something with those colors. Or maybe it's something totally wacky. I know sometimes I get inspired by fonts of all things! As long as you can explain how you were inspired, go for it :D

So yeah. Dedicate your art to the original artist if you want, but no big deal if you don't. Traditional and digital is accepted, but for fairness' sake there will be one traditional winner and one digital winner. It doesn't have to be colored either.

So yeah, have fun!

Both winners get a CG of anything they want with a simple background. Here and here are examples.

So yeah, submit as many as you want, and I'll judge all of them. I mean, you can't win both categories, but if you submit one and then you have a sudden burst of inspiration and make a better one, then you can totally do that.

It will be judged like this - which ever one blows me away the most wins. Keep in mind that a lot of different things blow me away, so everyone has a fair shot of winning. I respect all types of medium, so a sculpture has as much a chance of winning as a pen and ink drawing. Do whatever you excel at.
Buuuut here's a rubric if you need one

Creativity: 10 pts
Quality: 20 pts
Relevance to the theme*: 10 pts
Detail/Effort**: 10 pts

*This is pretty subjective, so make sure you explain the connection of your art to your inspiration well.
**I hate these effort type point things, because how can I really tell how hard you worked on something? The point is, even if you think you suck, if you put a lot of detail in it and make a BG or do something that obviously requires some time and dedication, that's a big plus and it will automatically get you some quality points too.

So this isn't actually a search for theO's best artist. It just sounds more official. I just want everyone to really push their limits and submit some quality stuff! Make it your most amazing submission yet!
