Very impressive realism on the back ground of this piece. And the details to the mermaid from her long flowing hair, to the scales and her fins are all put together quite well.
I do have to say that one thing seems a little off and that's her face. Though since I'm not an artist, I don't know why, it just seems to not fit in some way. Sorry for being so vague, especially when the whole picture is so nicely done.

You never cease to amaze me. The background is simply georgous! It's so beautiful! All the details on the rocks the actual waves and horizon really make this picture come to life!
And the mermaid, she's so pretty as well! I love her long flowing hair and how pretty her fins are. Did you model her after Yuki? Because her face kind of reminds me of him. ^_^ Hehe, now there's a thought! Yuki as a mermaid! ^_~

wow. i absolutly love this !but i wish you could of done it in color. i know that all you had was apencil when yu did it, but it would of been so beautiful! the shading is still wounderful, though. i would have never had the patience to do the back groudn like that ! i probably would have just shaded it blue or something like that.again i love it, and keep it up!

I'll start with the one thing that seems a little off. And that would be the mermaids face. She has just a bit of an angular look that makes her seem more masculine than feminine. The rest of her from the long flowing hair to the details of her tail and fin look fantastic.
My favorite part of this would be the background. The seascape is fantastic and the way you�ve captured the bit of white that is often along the edge of the wave is perfect.

Her face looks a little odd to me, but that might just be because of the odd angle for me...dunno'. I like the little details you added to her, too! The scales probably took a while...at least they would have for me.
The background looks really realistic! It makes the mermaid stick out a bit, though. Though, you're really good at realistic things. Great job anyway! Keep it up! ^^
