It's beautiful. I love the colors and the border as well. The only thing that seems a little off is her right leg. It comes across as being more up instead of lying flat? I don't even know how to explain that, other than the depth just seems off a little.
Now as for the coloring, I would have never realized that it was your first time doing it the digital way. You really nailed that well. ^_^

I luv the symbolism-ish stuff in it, like you explained^_^ And I don't think it came out bad - really good actually - especially for this being your first attempt at digital colouring!

I like how you incorporated the apples in the border; that was a very clever idea. Same with the t-shirt idea.
The digital coloring came out great. I would not have guessed this was your first time with digital coloring. =P I like all the small details, like the ruffles in her skirt, and the shading in her hair. I also thought it was neat how you made her shirt look Asian around the collar. Great character design.
Well, it takes me about 4 hours to get into NYC from where I live in upstate NY and YES! People need to realize...NYC is NOT NY state. It's just a city within the state of NY. That would be like calling Hollywood all of California or Orlando all of Florida. NYC is just the small area of the island of the very bottom of NY state.
And the borders I did just by having outlines that weave in and out of each other and then I colored them in on the computer. The girl and the background were done in 2 different images and then I just pieced them together.

Haha, you know this kind of made me laugh because the fox girl has the same color of eyes and hair as me. XD lol. Wow is this your first all digital piece then? I think it is astoundingly great. i adore the border you have drawn I mean man that must have taken a long time of detailed work it is amazing! I love the T Shirt as well, the idea is so fantastic. Those T Shirts are one of the first things I think of as well. I really really hope this one gets through to the finals, you have done a truly inspired job, really well done ~ Many thumbs up ~
