Thanks for asking! What I did was used something called 'photoshop patterns'. If you look at Chowder or Gankutsuo, they use it. Basically, you have a scan of a pattern (or colored paper, etc) and save it as a .pat file. Then when you paint, it'll show the pattern like this instead of normal colors. :) I hope I didn't confuse you! It's hard to explain, but easy when you figure it out.
