The program I use is Arcsoft Photostudio. It's a lot like photoshop, I used to work with photoshop in graphic arts, it has a lot of the same features. It also is expensive like Photoshop. I think it's a bit cheaper though. I can even e-mail you a pdf that's bascially a guide on how to use the tools it has.
All I've been using is the paintbrush! I haven't used the bucket fill at all. I do use the paint brush, and on some of my older works I remember sitting there for so long working on the edges. It always seems I can never get it all though, there's always white somewhere. But that's not my number 1 concern. It's on shading and all that. That I have no clue about. Darn edges... either I just blow or there's something I'm missing.
Sometimes coloring on the comp isn't for everyone. Like, me I could never get used to it. I think it just needs more texture, maybe you could fuse the two styles togethor. Like, use the computer and colored pencils?
Allrighty, let's see if I can give some tips...What program are you using to color this in? That would help to know.XD I'd say for one, don't use the paint bucket tool to color in things. I don't know if that's what you used but the way the white around the lines is, that's usually something that happens with the paint bucket tool. Rather use the regular paint brush tool to work around those edges. Then it will be smoother and less choppy and you'll be sure to fill in those white spots.
I use the paint brush tool for all my shading too on my drawings. I'm sure there's something else you can use to get smoother lines, but I just work that paint brush around shadows till it smooths out the way I want. It takes patience though, that's for sure!
From what DaFeather said, although the lasso tool is indeed a good tool to use, it doesn't tend to work so great when it comes to coloring only because the lasso tool makes really choppy edges and it's harder to control it. But for other things, the lasso tool is awesome! I just wouldn't recommend it for coloring.
Whelp, those would be the main things I'd recommend at this stage in the drawing, I hope it kinda helped.
I remember seeing this picture! Didn't he see this woman in his dreams or something like that? XD I really remember how surprised he looked when he saw her! I can't wait to see this all colored^^ Great job Jerry!
