I tend to think myself a collector of sorts (though I collect things when I either have money or require no money, which also means information). Therefore, I value anything and everything I get that's manga/anime/game related. I know they took out somes things and added things in the dubbed version, like I was looking forward to seeing the part where Aizawa was saying that Matsuda really liked Light and Matsuda did not say anything (I am a bit of a yaoi fan, so sorry if some of my views are a bit more yaoi-centric). Also, it seemed they changed the ending to a way that would make you sympathize with Light a bit more. That made me angry, because I was already angry at Light for being responsible for the deaths of so many important chracters (i.e. L, Mello, Matt, etc...) but I respect the people who did the hard work and took the time to bring it to the American audience, because not everyone here has access to the original Japanese version. =^_^= Anyway, that's how I see it.
As for the matter of that scene between L and Light, I agree with you that L really shouldn't be drying the feet of the man who was going to kill him. However, I think he was under the influence of the strange feeling that something was going to happen that day (he heard the bell tolling for him), so he might've figured "Oh well, at least before I go, better try to guilt trip him a little." (lol) Heh... now I may be rambling just a tad. But that's what I love about L. Despite the fact that he knew that Light was Kira in his heart and always kept an eye on him, he was still kind enough to do that for Light, someone who had so much potential, but threw it all away for the slight notion that he might become God. L was a wonderful person. *sniffle* Okay, now I really AM rambling! =^^;=
hmmm, I guess because I could never picture L doing that. Everyone that watched DN for the first time on Adult Swim was like "Do they like each other" I was like VBSJA/R;AFJjkjfcHBVDSHLFAE NO.
I'm not a yoai lover so it sucked to me [sorry ^^]. That totally undignified L, when would he ever wash Kira's feet?!
I noticed some very important scenes that they cut out and extrememly unnecessary scenes that they added. I read the whole manga series, but I wasn't happy with the dubbed version, to say the least.
That's pretty much my reason
Really? You hated it? Huh... might I ask why? Just like to know.
In a way, though, if that's the case, it's like the American audience gets a little extra treat (or trick if you don't like it =O.O;=). That makes me wonder why they would want to put in that extra scene in the dubbed version though. At any rate, thanks. That's a little bit of info that I wasn't aware of.
