I just wanted the smile visible. It seemed to work better if you know that he's just gazing at you--but you can't see it. In effect, that's pretty much what some of the characters in Death Note feel: his gaze upon them, while he's somewhere else. It's something along those lines that I tried to capture with this piece. But like I (didn't) said in my non-explanation at the bottom of the piece, I mainly want the viewers to make sense of it on their own terms. Thanks for the comment!
The fact that you did not show his face and added a lot of black really adds more darkness to the piece which I think makes it perfect; you hit Light's personality spot on with this!
"Have you fallen in love?" "No, but I've stepped on it."
It wasn't until someone mentioned about the light bulbs that I noticed that there were in fact lightbulbs. Nice.
Anyway, your drawing gives a really dark atmosphere and fits well with the dark nature of Light. He's just sitting there, crossing his legs, having an evil smile, with some twisted plot only he would know...man, does he look badass here. Doesn't even have to lift his finger.
I guess the light bulbs here represents life, and the broken light bulb represents death, right?
Anyway, great drawing you've produced here. Bravo! Keep up the good work.
Well as I thought for a second ,you did it with a purpose.Maybe a little caption that says (The caption was left out to give the watcher the chance to interpratate by it´s own will ).That would be the final touch lol . From the many pictures I have seen with no caption ,it usually comes to my head that they were lazy and didnt wanted to write it.In your case I knew perfectly that you take detail into consideration :3.Well for second thoughs ,I really love how you managed the light on this picture.Especially the braking bulb light part,it´s really somethings hard to imagine.I also have a lot of curiosity about what hes holding in his hand.A book or some paper.
I deliberately left the caption out. I didn't want to explain a single thing in this piece--not even the materials I used. I decided to leave this one open to interpretation. Maybe some will have differing ideas of what it means, but I don't want to pin-down a single idea. I hope you have fun interpreting it!
Actually, I sat in front of a big mirror which was angled to a specific degree. I wanted the appearance of height, so I chose the low angle. The height of his leg actually does correspond to my actual sitting position (but, there are some artistic licenses taken in this piece). The things I do for art. Thanks for the comment, and I'm glad the you like it!
O wow no caption at all,you really surpirsed me this time Shane. You usually write great captions describing what you wanted to express on the picture.Well I can tell you that the bg and the comic type bg go very well.Hmmm it´s very dark but seems that was wat u wanted to express good work at it.
