Yeah, I should go search them up on the net too! And have a good laugh over the voices xD
Having a modded 360 means I can't go on Xbox LIVE and download content. I think I mentioned this way back in this comment page before, lol.
I don't mind spending some cash for a PS3 game because I saved a lot by buying most games for the 360 anyway (pirated and cheap 8D). Most next-gen games are released for both consoles anyway, especially with lots of them losing their exclusivity lately. Although it benefits me financially because I can purchase them for the 360, I still disapprove of so many PS3-exclusive games going multiplatform. The developers have to dumb down the quality just to make them playable for the 360... but I guess all they care about is making more profits. It's a real shame =(
xDDD Funny you bring that up! My sister said that Goofy in Japanese sounds so freaking ridiculous~! I have to say that I agree fully. I might actually find a few clips and hear it just for kicks. Donald too. lol Oh man...
Why would you get the PS3 version? Both are downloadable now. :] Unless you have a PS3 only. ._."
Yoda was quite alright, I think. It's the typical old man's voice, lol. But I agree that he sounds better in English. I haven't tried out Vader though. I should get the PS3 version someday xD I'm pretty sure they got the original movie actors to be the cast for those two.
I suddenly have a strong desire to play Kingdom Hearts in Japanese! I'd love to hear how the Disney characters sound, rofl xD
Haha~ I see what you mean. A little drastic, maybe? xD
I'm at ease with the cast that the team chose for the current game. The Japanese cast that is. The English is horrible as you say. But I must give it to the people that did Vader and Yoda. Those Japs didn't even try...! it's so uncool when they do it. Dx The Apprentice sounds great though in Japanese. I actually prefer him in Japanese. But those other two? English. :|
My scenario was a little more... enthusiastic, rofl.
*PRESS START BUTTON* (my bro's in possession of the controller)
Me: *points at screen, trembling* "GO TO OPTIONS! NAAOOO!!!"
Bro: "lawlz xD"
*Changes language settings*
Bro: "Now... where's my Taaliiiimm...? ~♥"
Soul Calibur IV's cast changed a lot. Examples are Taki, Sophitia, Seung Mina... etc etc. Hiyama Nobuyuki used to play Nightmare in SC2, but of course... once Siegfried regained consciousness in SC3, he's played as that character ever since. Nightmare sounded really different in SC2 as compared to SC4 now (Hiyama's shout is quite high-pitched =P). Hiyama-san also took on a double role as Yoshimitsu, but he got replaced with Wakamoto Norio (whose voice, in my opinion, suits Yoshi better =D).
SC's English dubs are horrible. Go to YouTUBE and search for videos on SC4's Critical Finishes, they would've been really cool if it weren't for the voices >_> The quality of dubs in games/anime is very inconsistent. Square Enix games usually have excellent English dubs, like FF and Kingdom Hearts, but in other games and especially anime, they tend to suck real bad. It goes one way or another. They can either do the series justice, or totally butcher it.
ROFL! I pulled off that move by accident when I played Kilik against a CPU. It was a neat first attack xD The sound it makes when the hit connects is like a hard spanking from a bamboo cane x_x And it looks painful too.

I didn't realize that they changed the voice actors for Taki. I love the voice-over still but I agree with what you said. :] I don't really mind it to much. Just as long as they know how to express the character well. ::*nods*::
I know that Kilik move. I find it pretty fun to pull off. But a more fun thing to do is press ->, ->, A and get only his first swing from that combo. It looks soooo freakin' funny when it connects and sends your opponent into a side-flip. It's almost as if Kilik b*tchslapped that person with his staff. xD It's also a great way to feel like you've gotten payback for embarrassment on your end. I like moves like that. That just make you feel like you've gained some dignity back or make your character look more badass. :D
I usually rush in for the stab right when the match starts, lol. It's lightning fast and does pretty decent damage xD Taki can outrun almost anyone at this. First attacks are worth a lot.
Talking about Taki's forward kick attack, she makes this weird noise when she does it. It sends me the shivers, lmao. I don't know if this applies to her English voice too, because I play with Japanese voices (the first thing I did when I got the game was to go to Options and change the voice language... immediately). I have a huge fascination for seiyuu, lol. I've memorised a long list of names =P And I realised almost instantly that Taki's seiyuu was replaced when I played her. I missed Takimoto Fujiko, but her current one, Kojima Sachiko, is pretty good too.
I tried Maxi before, but that was way back in SC2. I didn't like his style. Very confusing =(
lol, I think I recognise that move of Xianghua's. She has lots of tricks =P I thought Kilik was THE breakdancer though. Try his eight-way run move [hold up, A, A, A]. Very neat xD
I play only with the joystick. I can't use the D-Pad on Xbox. It's horrid. I wish it were more like the Playstation's. : But yeah.. I'm a combo person. If the person is fast, then hell, I'll be all up in your face in no time. Soon as a match starts, Taki's cartwheeling her butt on over to you before you have time to press a button.
I also play with Xianghua (if I haven't said already), Kilik, and you already know Maxi. And that's in order from best to worst. xD I can't get Maxi's flow down. Kilik is great for his range. Plus he's got some nice horizontals. Xianghua has her own flow too. I like being extra fancy with her. xD I get away with it too. Her roundhouse is beautiful. :D And her little break-dance moves are also fun to pull off. Especially that one fake where she's standing one moment, fakes a stab, and drops low to kick you, twirling on the ground and rolling back up to her feet. :D
Yep, I know those unblockables =) I never use the spinning kunai one because it's a tad slow and it's not so easy to pull off as compared to the other two (your fingers have to travel in a semi-circle on the d-pad, lawlz).
I use the unblockable bomb as an alternative to the other launch attack I mentioned. Although it works 100% when it connects, it's rather risky because it's slow, so I prefer to use it as a down attack. I use the other "bomb" to launch because it's a lot faster, although it becomes dangerous if the opponent successfully blocks O_O
The one that comes with the Possession stance is also my favourite =D It's faster than most unblockables that other characters have, and it's excellent for ring-outs if I can find the right time. But mostly I'd spam [A, forward] as my main ring-out move. I belive it's called Shadow Shrine or something. It's really fast and surprisingly effective even if the opponent has Nullify Ring Out A! I discovered this when I played SC2 and I just LOVE it xD
I should probably try that strategy you mentioned some time =P Sounds neat!
I don't play Talim, but I know she's excellent for mind games. I don't think my bro realised this yet though. She has a lot of continuous side-stepping attacks, but he hardly uses them. And yes... YES! I totally agree with you there xDDD My bro ALWAYS rings her out by accident when he fights at the Tower... omg it's just so hilarious. But as we ascend the floors, it gets annoying when he does that, and I find myself snapping at him time to time (he's the older sibling but man is he stubborn >_>). But he's really good with her though, he beat the last floor of the Tower against Algol using Talim... while I was asleep! O_O And without any cheap tactics to boot.
So you're learning to use Maxi? I'm usually unwilling to adapt to another style after being so comfortable with Taki, even though it's so fun and tempting to play as other characters xD I occasionally use Kilik and Nightmare because of the range. Mitsurugi looks tough to play with, but I've seen the CPU do wonders with this guy, so I'm considering giving him a try.
I tend to use single, swift attacks rather than long combos when I use Taki, so Setsuka's fighting style attracts me. I have yet to try her out though.
Yeah, Taki's throws are ridiculously fun to pull off. I like throwing people off with the unblockable moves. Taki has three. The bomb. The spinning kunai.. and the one she pulls out of the special stance. After a counter, I'll quickly do her stance and then trigger her special while the other person counters. It's a great move when your opponent thinks they know your going to continue attacking after a guard impact. I find them quite easy to pull off to be honest. :P
Talim, to me, is a useless character. She's very spastic and can easily flip off a stage. When the CPU is playing as her, there's no point in fighting. Just lay down on the ground and wait for her to flip out. lmao. xDDD
My bro and I never pull fakes on each other because Talim and Taki are just too fast. The matches usually end in less than a minute, lol. I also realised that guard-impacting is a waste of time because Talim moves too fast for me to react in time x_x It takes a bit of guesswork and chances are that I'll end up being punished if it didn't work. And blocks would just be countered with throws, lol. Eight-way runs are rather slow too, and easily punishable with horizontals.
All we do is play mind games on each other, just the simple switching between high, mid and low tactics... and try to discern each other's attack patterns on the way, knowing which combos would come after which... When I see openings, I'd love to use Taki's aerial throw attacks, they're pretty damn cool =P (Launch her with back A+B, B, followed by A+K, B+G)
Ohhh... you'll see the difference if you go in reverse. Graphically, being the most obvious.
Unpredictability is something that I have to get to work on. My friend pulls a lot of fakes on me and half of the time, gets away with it. But it looks so damn cool, I can't help but get caught. When I get him, I get him bad.. The matches go either way. Most of the time to the person who gets the first hit, lol. I'm learning how to use the Maxi Pad. What styles other than Taki do you major in?
My bro and I compete a lot in VS mode. After some time, we'd notice each other's attack patterns. But once we realised this, we'd change strategies constantly. That's why neither one of us can completely know the other. Unpredictability is a skill I know I must maintain.
I haven't played SCII in a long time already. I never felt that sort of difference in each installment ^^;
You should really get on the Clannad train. It's a good ride not just for the experience points but in the long run, it teaches you some meaningful stuff.
My friend uses slow characters. Ever since we started together. He's been using them. He likes their power I guess. Seeing as we use complete opposite styles and everything else, it's pretty interesting to see what competition is like between us. I know it puts on a good show for many of the people that watch us when we compete at anything. :P We know each other to well. ::*smirks*:: Have you someone like that that knows you like a book or vice versa? :}
Haha, Talim is too cute if you ask me. But I like her. She was the first character I ever picked up on in Soul Calibur II. Then I fell in love with Xianghua. (sp?) To this day, I still think she looked the best and played the smoothest in Soul Calibur II compared to any of the other installments. If you go back to it after playing IV, that game is ridiculouslyFAST. lmao If you haven't tried it out, you should. You'll see what I'm talking about. xDDD
Speed is preferred by most players anyway, I've always believed that the slower characters are reserved only for veteran players. I find Nightmare really fun to play with, but I'm terrible at using him >_< I guess I've grown used to Taki. Nightmare is just too different, lol. But I've beaten tower stages with him when I couldn't with Taki. Ring Outs FTW!
And Nightmare is just teh badass >:D
I think Ivy's default outfit beats Taki in Soul Calibur IV, in terms of fanservice. Not that I'm interested... but at least Taki has a little dignity left because of that.
I've never heard of Clannad.
My bro loves to dress his Talim up really cute... yeah, you know his type. I'm too lazy to create my own character, Taki is cool enough xD It's the amazing ability to customize her that saves me from having to use her default outfit. At least Namco still has some humanity for allowing that.
Taki was and still is my favorite character of all the installments. I like her speed and agility. I usually pick characters like that all the time in fighting games. Most adventure games too. ^^ She's just really fun. If you use her wrong though, she's not a fun fight for either players and can be very annoying. But I bring out her best. I'm sure you can to seeing as your a big fan of her. Hehe, I know exactly what you mean with her "assets". She's definitely well endowed, I must say. Speaking of which, I'm so happy they gave us the option to change proportions on both genders. They needed that sooo badly after the third one. Before the game came out, I kept telling my friend...
"Man, I wish there were more clothes.."
"What I would love is the ability to change proportions. I'd like to see a short chick fighting a large bulky guy..!"
"Expansion Pack. Expansion Pack man.. A few more months. ::*nods*::"
And unfortunately, I lack much of the skills required to be labeled a "professional" comic book artist. Currently I fall in the category of "comic book artist in training". :)
The tower is tough, isn't it? I can relate to what you say about characters getting goofier as you go up. lmao I had my cool ninja character Leena dress up in a neko costume--very similar to that of Tomoyo's bear costume from Clannad. She was a hilarious sight when she teleported all over the place. (btw, I LOVE how Leena can teleport now. And I say Leena because why play as Taki when I can have my own badass character play as her instead? xD)
p.s. [Tomoyo = <3 ]

I started off with Soul Calibur II... but I really wish I could play Soul Edge and Soul Calibur, just to see how the story unfolded. Okay, I have Wikipedia to cover that, but still... T-T
I've never tried Xbox LIVE before because... heheh, my stuff came from the pirates 8D I'm not interested in playing online either. I only play during long school breaks (college, AGH!), subscriptions would be a waste of money for me.
My bro and I are conquering the tower as of now, the special requirements to open the chests can be a pain at times, but we managed to unlock almost all of them.
You're a comic book artist, as in, professionally? O_O And I've never heard of Top Cow (I'm not into American comics, sorry).
I prefer to stick to a single colour scheme when editing characters, while changing a few to avoid looking bland. But as we're ascending the tower, when things get tough, we'd change equipment to get the skills we need, even if they turn out horribly fugly.
Oh, and the reason why I noticed the boots in your pic is because Taki's my fav character =P She's so cool and... speed FTW! It's just very unfortunate that she's the object of fanservice in every single installment. And it'll never stop because according to the press, she's what makes Soul Calibur Soul Calibur (if you know what I'm getting at). And... they just get bigger with each release! It's bad for my eyes... @_@
I'm like that too. It's very interesting to see what you make. Me and my friend have been with the series since the first game. When it was called just Soul Edge I believe. It's been a fun journey to this current installment, that's for sure. If I could, I'd take a picture of my Leena in the game. And I don't have an Xbox 360 of my own so I go to my friends house to play. We go online sometimes to see what's up with the competition. We have a lot of fun offline but half of the time, we just know each other to well and the battles are nothing but dodges and counters because we can't hit the other one. Fun stuff. xD
We're satisfied with our characters and color schemes. Unfortunately, I can't say that for the majority of the people online. I asked my sensei why people made such terrible colors for their characters.. He said that I was a comic book artist. Which meant I had a better sense of color. I said, "But what about Justin? He's not artist." And he turned to me and said, "He grew up with one." His brother is a professional artist for Top Cow. I seemed to have forgotten that. >>" Anywho~!!!
Soul Calibur IV pwns. xD
Woah, I'm right! O_O I thought I was making a wild guess, lol.
I've been a long time fan of the series. I can get stuck in the character creation mode for hours in a row, hehe =P It's a great source of ideas and inspiration. The equipment available are just so cool-looking ^^
Your very much right about the boots and Soul Calibur. She's my character from the game. I cannot call her my complete original design because the clothing designs (most of it) belongs to the wonderful artists behind Soul Calibur IV. ::*nods*:: But you have a good eye. Thanks for your kind words. :P
I stumbled upon this pic in the contest site, it captivates me :D I like the character design and of course the pose!
Her boots look very familiar though. I don't know if it's just me, but it resembles Taki's 2nd default outfit in Soul Calibur 4 ^^; Ah well, if you know the game... (it's awesome)
:3 i wove the pose. :3
makes me wanna doodle her or something :D
I was asked to be in a contest once but couldn't partake in it ㅠ_ㅠ
Anywho, I love the pic
:D

Haha, Talim is too cute if you ask me. But I like her. She was the first character I ever picked up on in Soul Calibur II. Then I fell in love with Xianghua. (sp?) To this day, I still think she looked the best and played the smoothest in Soul Calibur II compared to any of the other installments. If you go back to it after playing IV, that game is ridiculously FAST. lmao If you haven't tried it out, you should. You'll see what I'm talking about. xDDD

@The Shirt:

Anyway, I wish you all the best for the contest!
