It's good practice though, that's a good thing that you are practicing realism, because so many people don't know how to do realism. if all you can draw is cartoons, then no art school is going to accept you. Unless you do something with comics for the newspapers or whatever.
I think you just have to work more on the shading for the nose. if you shade rather than sketch, it adds a lot more realism

I know what you mean about your pictures looking good, but then when you stare at them again not looking good. I think that comes from, well, I think it happens because your skills advanced from that point and now you realize the differences of how you drew then from how you drew now. Make sense?
I think the picture is cool! I can imagine it in one of those freaky cool cafe places, like if it was painted. Ha ha ha. I love how her face focuses on all the main things models show off on their faces. Lips, Eyes, Cheek bones, it´s all exaggerated in this picture and it works magnifically in an artists perspective!
