maybe it's the pencil ur using.. i use hard ones.. 2H.. it's good for sketching the rough draft and also for shading lightly.. 2B though is soft so it could look chunky and rough.. i dont use Bs coz they're dirty and i dont like it's rough texture on paper.. XD
i use mechanical pencil for outlining the details and for shading as well..
