Such a wonderful drawing! I adore the shading in the hair, its amazing! One thing I would point out though is the eye. Her left eye is off considerably, not only in size but in location. Her head band also looks strange. The finger looks disjointed and smaller than the rest.
I'm not sure if you're using that 'smudging' technique (if you aren't then you have incredible skill with pencils) but IMO it makes the image kind of dull.
Other than that, you have amazing talent!

Actually whiteness is a bad thing in my opinion especially in realism. Skin is not naturally white, only super bright shines like you get from the sun or a blade are pure whites. Not even your nails are pure white or the white of your eyes. They are a light gray. So in reality you shouldn't have been jealous in the first place.
I just use a stapler eraser. Those are pretty good because they are designed for drafting. I think a type writer eraser would work best though. Adding it to my Christmas list. :D It's basically a pencil but with an eraser in it instead of lead. It even looks like a pencil. But for now I use a Stapler.
As for adding shines I use a mixture of different techniques. I do intentionally leave some parts more lighter than others so that when I blend the shades together it creates a natural looking hair color and shine. I hope that makes sense to you.
If you have any other questions please ask away. My comment box will only fill to the top of the charts, XD.

I usually erase after I shade, but sometimes it is hard when i do not have a good eraser or if i start my background too dark. I shade my paper before i draw so it's easier to add shadows. I am going to try to use tape to leave parts of the page really white, such as shines and what not.

Well, when I first started drawing, I drew those lines because I thought they were nessesary, like part of the face. Or something weird...So I'm pretty used to them? (huh?)

Only recently was I introduced to drawing lines to help organize and align. Ugh, it's so confusing for me! I do not understand how it can be your life.
Ahh, I see. Yes, scanners really kill shading. It's so hard to do in the first place, though!
I've never heard of those techniques for alignment before! I want to try them now!
I understand what you mean about the nose, that's definately my problem. They're just so weirdly shaped! I'm mean, who came up with that idea anyway?! -3- Jeez!
I think that it's so amazing that you can do so much without the lines, though! (those thing are my life o_o)
I also think it's awesome that this was only done in pencil. WAAAAAAH!! YOU AMAZING PERSONNN!!! >:O
Thank you for leaving a comment. I was trying to do some sort of realism because anime is not my forte. I'm really glad you appreciate the change of style though, thanks. ;D
Well to start off, I would really like to thank you so much for taking the time to actually examine my artwork and critique it. It means a lot to me getting feed back from really great artists.
She was sitting still for a while but the angle of her face kept changing. This made it very difficult to keep her eyes aligned. The time I realized that they were crooked it was too late. In order to change it I would have had to change the whole nose and mouth. Unlike with photo shop, you can't just crop and rotate so what was done was done.
I agree and disagree with some of the things you said. Like I do agree that my facial alignment needs some work. I do not use a graph or alignment techniques when drawing, which I really should start on. All I know is, eyebrows are a little close to the eyes, ears connect to nose and eye. Forehead, depends on character lips to chin 1/5th or something. My mind works very differently because I am self taught and am still learning many new techniques.
If anything there is one thing that I noticed to. Her face seems a little too pushed in, especially around her nose area. I feel that maybe next time I could really work on alignment and get her to have more volume in certain areas. If I just added a little more shadow and what not it would have been fine.
The lack of shades and shadows is due to the scanner. I am going to try re scanning it later to see if I can get a better quality of the image.
Again, thank you so much for viewing. I'm really glad you like it.
oh and by the way. I do not find multiple critiques annoying. :p

Waaah! You and Teapot-san are making good arguements...It's really interesting :o I can't believe I just read all that, though xD
Aaaanyway,
Her eyes caught my immediate attention. Then I noticed her elegant eyebrows, slightly furrowed in consentration, and touched with annoyance (it made me chuckle). I saw the rest of her face, and then I took a good look at her hair. The shading is just spectacular! You see every hair, every little whisp...It's just amazing. Her headband looks very realistic. I cannot stress how much I love her hair!!!! Her eyes are so pretty and dark...still slightly childlike, but you can tell she's growing up. The shading is very good, her lips are lovely, as someone said before, the top is a little undefined, but it's really no big deal. Overall, a very beautiful and please picture.
BUT NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE CRITIQUE!!! (I'm sorry!!! T-T)
You've gotten some heavy critisism already. I know how annoying it can be. You've already spent hours messing up and fixing, and at this point, you really don't want to even think about it. After this you may feel a little unsatisfied (Sorry! >_< It happens to me all the time, though...), but what ever you do: don't mess with the original. We live and we learn. There're some very, very little things that I noticed that I don't think anyone has mentioned.
First of all, I'm sure your sister kept moving just a little bit (I've tried to draw my sibilings and they never sit still...So I usually use photos)
It seems to me that (if you're facing her) part of the left side of her face needs to be moved up, and the center of the face is a little too far to the left. The eyebrows are fine, and the lips are fine. It's just her eyes and nostrils. This is something my brother's girlfriend has ground into my brain...but it's still something I struggle with all the time.
The best way to test yourself if things are unproportional or crooked is to hold it up in a mirror, or flip the image on the computer (this does that same thing). It will show all of your drawing's falts clearly.
So, this is how I fix this problem:
I'm sure you use facial lines to align everything. Well, first off, you need for them to be somewhat straight (whoa. Captin Obvious over here -3-)
I usually start out with the eyes just as little ovals on the "eyes line". [B}You need to make sure they're an equal distance apart from the "center line".
Then, I make an outline for the nose. The outline is usually just the nostrils, and maybe a little circle to show the tip of the nose. Just like with the eyes, you need to make sure they are an equal distance apart from the center line.
Then I go on to actually draw the eyes and nose. If, while you're drawing you think something looks off, pick your favourite of the eyes, take a ruler and draw a light, straight line from the top of the chosen eye to the edge of the face. The line should hit were the top of the other eye is. If it doesn't, erase the other eye and draw it to match the line. Do the same thing with the bottom of the eye. This way, they should be aligned.
Unfortunately, I'm not very good with realistic noses (;_;), and so I can't really give you much advice, exept just make sure those nostrils are in the right place!!! :O
Before you do any dark, final drawing, do the mirror check. This way, you can catch anything before it's too late.
I'm not sure if I was any real help, but I'm just telling you what I noticed...If you want to to attempt to explain anything more clearly, just ask...I kind of have trouble doing that... ._.
Sorry for critiquing so much!!! ;_; I hope you still love me! (loll)
This is a really beautiful drawing, and I cannot wait to see more!!!
Yaaay! The uberlong comment is finally done with! ^0^
I honestly couldn't find anything to critique (sp?I'm too tired to really care much today) Not trying to like suck up but I honestly looked it over for almost 4 or 5 minutes and I couldn't find anything other than the outline and some shading which I read the part about your scanner so I understand why it's that way.
I really like it. Its almost like you took a picture or something. It's one of the best I have ever seen on theO, no lie. Keep it up you're amazing:)
My art teacher says the same thing to me. I need to really work on outlines. To be honest with you I think this picture looks a lot better in real life than how the scanner scanned it. It turned out a lot lighter and destroyed a lot of the shading on her face. I tried to re scan it multiple times but...it didnt really work.
I'm really glad you like it though. I am no expert either and I need a lot of feed back to get better at it. Thanks!
I love how you relate the character's in the anime, to real life school kids. Although the time difference is ...impeccable all in all everyone goes through the same things. It is how humans are. People are very complex beings. You never know how they are going to react to something which leads you become cautious around certain "others"
Sasuke is just a child and is mind is still not fully developed to know what things lead to certain consequences. It's very natural for him to think what he is doing is fair but at the same time know what he is doing but not know what will become of it. It's not until you reach the age of 18 when you begin to notice things are wrong and right...er the consequences. Ha! everyone has a conscience, unless you are a psycho path! I think Orochimaru, being the genius he is labeled to be, knew this. He took advantage of Sasuke when he was young and vulnerable and I can probably but a high wager that he knew about his past as well. Since, Orochimaru was indeed apart of the Akatsuki one time.
Naruto is different than Sasuke because he doesn't let the the negative stand in his way. He became tired of being pushed around by other students but instead of sucking up to those comments he denied them. Naruto is the positive outlook on childhood and Sasuke is the negative. The both choose very different paths.
You can relate to Sasuke? How so? I hate to say this but I think I act a lot like shikamaru. I am smart, only when I choose to be, such as right now. Lazy geniuses will rule the world! ....tomorrow. (lol, I'm making that into an e card)
Yeah I agree with what you said, It's what I was thinking exactly. I don't mean to sound angry lol, I guess I just have a lot to say and then I go crazy and try to spit everything out and get it all out, but yeah, I don't mean to sound mad. Yes, Sasuke knew what he was doing, but I mean, he is not an adult. Lots of kids do things that harm them, knowing what they are doing. He was pretty peer pressured, like when all of Orochimaru's gang came and tried to attack him. He was Orochimaru's bait from the very beginning. Those characters, the others ones with the curse mark acted as those same kind of students that try to peer pressure you into doing drugs. They didn't even give him a choice and they bribed him. Sasuke could have been helped, but he didn't accept it, which was not his fault, such trauma is not easy to accept and just get help for. Some people don't feel they deserve to be helped and they stay in that pool forever. Naruto on the other hand chose it differently, but of course he had a different mind than Sasuke. Naruto seems more ADHD and instead of taking out his anger on others he was compared to, he chose to act it out. He reminds me of a boxer. They feel the same, always pressured to be perfect, being put down by their opponents, but they take it out all out in the ring and that's where their true power comes from. Sasuke is not like that, he is more withdrawn. I hate to say this, but I feel like I can really relate to sasuke, which is probably why I know what it feels like. I can sometimes relate to Shikamaru too. He's so smart, but lazy. =P
Ha ha ha, you sound very angry about this. I think it's the tone of your sentences. XD. I'm sorry if it seems I'm starting an argument.
Hmm, I guess sometime there is always a sadness that is followed by hatred. That's where repression comes from. The psychology of Sasuke's behavior is dealt with through a lot of situations. One of the major ones was betraying his friends and his village hidden in leaves. Another is allowing Orochimaru's curse mark to grow even though knowing that it harms him. That in itself can be labeled as abuse. No one who is happy and well happy with themselves would do something that caused them pain. Sasuke was willing to injur himself to gain power to prove he is stronger than Itachi. It all began with Jealousy and now he is addicted to power. He wants to become stronger than Naruto as well, who is also stronger than him.
I think this, wanting to be the best, and threatened by the best came from always being compared to his brother. In the past Sasuke's dad always saw him lower than Itachi. He was constantly being compared. You can apply this situation to a young girl being compared to a..."super model" It makes you seem less than you really are.
I'm not saying Sasuke is depressed with himself, because he clearly does things to make himself better and he doesnt lack a moral of laziness or whatever. He is just lost, confused and as you said "trying to hide how he feels"
But I think that he no longer knows why he is acting the way he does because of his repressed thoughts of his family being murdered by his brother. Because he never spoke about this his mind transformed the thought into something else, maybe into something he was, that was small. Like jealousy. Of course, Sasuke is a very fictional character and only the author or creator of the story could tell us the real reason as to why he is acting the way he is.
This is fun :D

Isn't that where most psychological issues come from though? Anger and frustration? You can't deny that there must have been sadness as well. I mean, he is human after all, and his way of gaining power is just a way to mask his emotions the same way drugs or alcohol would do to a person. They hide what the person is really feeling. Even after Itachi is dead, why does he still remain evil? Even after he found out the real reason for it? It's because he is trying to hide what he really feels and he doesn't know how to deal with reality anymore. Sasuke is a very complex character and very emotionally stricken. Of course his brother added fuel to the fire and a lot of times he probably wished that he would have just died along with him. Seeing his older brother, who was his role model, do all of that just shattered his dreams. rememeber when Michael Phelps got committed of that drug scandal? Everyone felt so betrayed and we weren't even related to him. Imagine how Sasuke must have felt with someone who WAS that close to him. What kind of flaws do you see in the Naruto characters?
Hey thanks a lot. I was trying to capture the frustration in her brow while she was concentrating. There was a pretty good stress mark there, :p
I think capturing light has been my biggest obstacle so far. I don't really feel comfortable with lighting and tend to make everything dark so this was something very new for me.
Thank you for the tips, but I have tampered and messed with this picture way to much to go back now and change things. I'll keep my eye open for the next fan art I submit. Ha ha ha. Which...I have no idea what or who it'll be of.
Maybe...nah never mind. XD Thanks again for the advice!
I think you sound like a very interesting person. You have strong believes and you really know how to just say it! XD. I like that in a person. It is a good character trait...honesty and saying what you think whether or not people would hate you for it or not. Very political.
I think Sasuke's ways of dealing with his family's death is frustration and anger more than anything. He was still young and very naive about power. He wanted to kill his brother, that in itself came from a very sub conscious memory of his brother always being better than him. Making Sasuke jealous in the first place. However, when Itachi finally decided to kill everyone except for Sasuke that just arose a opportunity, if you will, in Sasuke's life to actually have a reason to more than ever beat Itachi. That's my analysis anyways, ha ha ha.
I think sometimes the characters in Naruto have some flaws, especially in the newer seasons but hey, those episodes were pretty much forced.
As for my race, I am Chinese. :-)>
I will tell my sister that you said she is beautiful, ha ha ha.
You did a lovely job with the hair—most people compromise by sacrificing either detail or overall "shape," but you've got both of those here, and it looks good.
I notice that the left side of her face is darker overall, which I'm guessing is intentional—but there are also a couple dark smudges on that side that make her look a lot older. (By her brow, and next to her nose). Lightening those a little would help.
And the right side of her upper lip is a little less defined than the rest of her mouth, but that's easy to fix with a firm stroke of an eraser.
Overall, it looks really good. I'm excited to see that you're submitting fanart!
Wow, eight years old? That is ancient! 0_o ha ha ha. But I do like it a lot. I always imagine a story of a vampire kiss, how seductive and romantic, but cannibalistic at the same time. Very nice.
I can't wait to see what you have to say about my picture in the future. I will be looking forward to your judgment.
Dang we all know who won the contest! =P You're sure making yourself well known around here ain't ya? I thought I was the only one who thought that about Sakura. I alwys think about the characters in real definition. Like, I know a lot of people hate Sasuke, but come on, he was only 12 years old, he witnessed his family murdered and saw all of their dead bodies. Can you imagine the trauma he must have faced? And he didn't have anyone to talk to, or turn to, and he was just a kid for Pete's sake, you can't expect him to solve it on his own. People in real life do the same things all the time, like when people become anorexic. They have had horrible things happen to them and they try to find a sense of control over themselves, by harming their bodies in the process. Much like what Sasuke did when he gave himself to Orochimaru. Man, look at what you made me do, I went over my head!! But anyways, this is a really brilliant picture!! The eyes are so cute, and your sister must be beautiful if you used her as the model for this picture. What race are you?
ghaaa i wish i could..theres so much i want to talk about about this pic..but as i promissed to myself and well have writen to the other participants that i will give a better comment after the deadline....when i judge and stuff...

Teapot suggested that I put a photo of myself as well...;__; She is becoming very demanding of me. Just kidding.

Thanks!

@Teapot Domescam:

@Yu Fang:

@Teapot Domescam:

@Yu Fang:
