Thank you!! To answer your question I practice, practice, practice, and do some more practice. Sometimes I'll watch OP or read it and study their structure so by now I know Oda's style pretty well so I guess you can say I've memorized a few of them, Luffy and Sanji in particular. A year ago I couldn't draw anything to save my life (just look at my first submission) and now I can do a pretty decent job. So don't give up if you want to draw OP, you have to study Oda's style a bit and most of all practice. Thanks for the comment.
I think the soft shading looks really nice on this, but there are still a lot of heavy outlines that I think you could have done without. I think a variety of more darker shades of gray could have balanced his skin very well. The stumping technique does add a lot of smoothness but it doesn't necessarily need that on the hair. You want certain places to be soft and other places to be smooth. Just so you can get the whole texture thing going on. Because when everything is soft and nothing seems different, it get's boring right?
Don't be afraid to use darker shades! I think you are heading in the right direction just keep practicing.

Shikamaru is the guy in Naruto who's always saying "What a drag!" The look on Zolo's face is like that. ^^
