Okay~ the spoiler reason I like this pairing: So at the end of BBS Master Xehanort takes over Terra's body and they're left battling over his heart. So this Terranort combo becomes Xehanort, apprentice to Ansem the Wise. He then becomes the Heartless "Ansem Seeker of Darkness" and Xemnas. Xehanort's Heartless fuses with Riku, trying to take over Riku's body etc. Therefore, there is a bit of Terra in Riku X3 Riqua is just the modern version of Terqua

I still think its a bit strange, considering the age difference, but I can kind of see it.
Riku's still my fave Chara.
