Aw, she's so cute! First thing I gotta say is that I love the lighting and the effects you used. It really adds to the feel of the overall picture. I love her pose, too, it just fits so well. I like the way you draw clothing, too! It's simple, but in what I've seen from your art, it's always nice.
Love the way the hair turned out, too. Nice work~
Aww thanks a lot for your feedback Oli-chan!:)
(Heheh, the fact that Sayura-chan wrote so much doesn't mean that I don't appreciate your comment On the contrary!^^ Besides, you told me some new stuff, so thanks again!^_^)
Wow, Aragorn sure wrote a lot >_>" Compared to that, my comment's gonna be considered spam-short! Anyway, first things first: I like how you made the sun rays and the trees, I can never get them right -_-
And about the proportions, I think first of all you should make the neck thinner (not pencil-thin, but all anime girls have uber thin necks, even though it defies the laws of physics). Also, the hips should be a bit more curved and the ankles thinner. Just keep practicing and you'll improve before you know it ^^ Good luck in the contest!
No problem, I love challenges like these^___^
Lol it's so weird to imagine that - I submitted this close to midnightXD So don't apologise for any 'lateness', since I saw your comment when I woke up:P
I'm really glad you appreciate the effort! Well, I wouldn't be drawing art if I didn't love it, would I? Thanks for holding this challenge and thanks for your comment!^___^
First of all, thank you for entering this challenge! xD
I'm glad you are trying something new with this challenge. :) This is an easy challenge but hard to accomplish in my opinion xD I actually did saw this already when I was about to go to school (I'm in Asia) xD and I am the first/second to give you hug, but didn't manage to give comment since I was in a hurry. I will give comment to every piece submitted to my challenge xD So pardon me for the lateness of this comment~
It is really good to ask for an expert like aragorn-san to give you
feedback in your art piece. In this way, you'll improve I'm sure. I really like your effort in drawing this and thanks for your time for this challenge! My objective in making challenge is so that those who wants improvement can improve themselves through the challenges available here. :) So, I'm really glad to know that you did what I actually wanted for the challenge! xD
That's all! Good luck with your drawings and don't give up! I love arts and I'm sure you too, ne? :D

Pretty!! She's a cool elf, and I really love what you did with the bg. :) Using the real tree texture for the tree~ Very nice! <3 Good luck in the challenge!
Ooh, sparklies! XD I love the texture of the dress. It's like I can feel it through the picture. I think I need you to tutor me on how to draw boobs XD
Ahaha you're welcome SaxGirl-chan, anything for you!!<33
And regarding the hair, yep I understand that you were aiming for a more cartoonish style, but keep in mind that doesn't exempt any possibility for adding detail, flow, and movement ^^ That's the main concept I was just getting at, that's all~
For proportioning, if you're finding it difficult, try setting it up with a stick figure base for everything! I definitely find that it helps for doing poses you've never tried and keeping track of anatomy =)
No problem for not replying to everything! It's a lengthy comment so I TOTALLY understand xD <33
Wow Sayura-chan thank you SO much for your incredibly lengthy comment!<33333 *uber huggles you*
Don't worry about being too harsh on me or anything, I really agree with you on most parts^^
I see your point on the hair, but I started this picture with the idea of trying a more cartoon-ish style. So the hair, for one thing, was not meant to be very realistic. (I have lots of trouble with curly hair too, which is why I'm never satisfied with a self-portraitXD so I tried a new, more simple style) The shading was meant to be realistic though...x) So yeah, that probably could've been better:3 I suppose I shouldn't be scared to make more defined shadowsX3 - which I am, so yeah._.;
And I also know that the head is very large, and the hands and feet are very small in comparison. Bah, I'm bad at proportioning those right x) I should really pay more attention to that=/ Plus, yup, I had lots of trouble with the feet... Thanks a bunch for the tips!:D
I'm glad you like the textures!^^
Woah I'm sorry for not replying to everything you've written, but you should know that I'm really very grateful for all you've said! *hugs you again*

ALRIGHTY! You asked for feedback, and I'm gonna give it to ya SaxGirl-chan!! I hope you're prepared for some critique(because if not..then feel free to delete this comment xDD)~ I'm gonna be VERY thorough in the hopes that it'll help you improve k? If there's anything that you don't agree with or is unclear let me know! You're my amazing friend and I wouldn't want to do anything bad for you!
Mkay! Let's get started!
So! The first thing I noticed was definitely the color of the fabric!<3 I love that it stands out so so much compared to the more subtle scenery, I really think that it's great that you chose to do that ^^
I AM SO SO PROUD OF YOU FOR USING TEXTURES!<333 It took me like 2 years until I figured out what they were...lol. I'm really proud of you for using that because you really have no idea how much they can enhance a drawing! The hair looks alright too~ it's great for a first time ^^ I find curly hair rather..difficult and troublesome LOL.
And finally, I love how you challenged yourself with the pose! Walking forward is VERY difficult to do, but you were definitely on the right track for the feet coming on there! *nods* And the trees look LOVELY, especially that big one on her right! You really did great with that ^^
NOW for the critique! ^^ I'm really hoping this helps you out SaxGirl-chan~ if you don't agree with anything or something let me know or delete the comment xD I'll do my best to help with what I can!
So hereee we go!
My first issue is regards to the coloring~ You've got the basic conception for coloring, but look! There's not much shading >.< Take a look at your light source: it's from the upper left hand corner right? Well I can barely tell that there is much shading besides some slight use of what looks like the dodge tool on her hair and some on her face. Make sure to emphasize, define, and darken your shades more with tones~ that's key in giving a drawing depth! Even flat coloring utilizes some sharply contrasting light and dark tones(that's how cel-shading works), so make sure you look at that when you're shading ^^
Second thing is in the regards to the hair~ You did well with the ideas for the curls, but think about a person's hair in real life, does it really curl into such clean spirals that are the same throughout like swirls? I guess I'd say to think about hair sort of like folds of fabric~ the way the hair flows is different for ever single curl, the same way that every which way clothing folds is different even if it's the same dress! ^^ That's also an idea to keep in mind for the dress you've drawn as well~ for there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of details, folds, or motion here. I think that mostly just takes a lot of observing and practice though xD I can help you with that if you'd like! =)
And finally the remainder is for proportions! Take a photo of yourself standing straight and look at her photo maybe? You'll see that in your pic, her head is a little bit large~ and also that both her legs, arms, and hands are a bit too small especially in relation to the torso. I guess just add a bit more mean, definition and muscle to her arms, and enlarge her hands, with the idea of joints in mind. ^^ Her feet are a bit small too, but my biggest concern is regarding the leg length, which, if she is an older teen maybe? Should be longer with the shape of the ankles defined. For the eyes and her face, I don't see much wrong with the eyes except the fact that maybe you could thicken the top line of her eyes where her eyelashes are, so that the eyes look more life-like ^^ Note that when you're drawing toes, hardly ever will you draw them as straight up circles, even on occasions when people are walking forward unless you're right in front of their toes xD So keep that in mind SaxGirl-chan! I know you can do it!
WHOA this is the longest comment I've probably written hahaha xD But I do hope it helps you!!<33 And a little side-note on textures, try looking at textures that can cover the whole of your pic too on top of the ones you've already put and playing with the colors ^^ It can really change the look of a picture! *hugs*
Overall I love how you challenged yourself for this and I wish you luck in ReiKiba's challenge! Take care my friend and Happy New Year!!<333
