Ahh I see, I get it! I didn't even realised! xD Awesome, Nursery Rhymes are indeed creepy xD Thanks for the link, it was somehow gruesome! *w*b Great artwork too, among all, this Nursery Rhyme is hard to grab in.
ok. Remember that in this Nursery Rhyme, we are asking Mary how her garden grows... Those maids doesn't mean that they are helping to tend the garden... they are one of the things used to make the garden grow...
If you read the lines more carefully, you'll get the freaky meaning behind her beautiful garden... and what kind of nourishment do the plants get from. Those maids in the drawing are not the maids themselves... it is their graves.
A lot of our old rhymes were creepy/gruesome ("Ring Around the Rosie", "Rock-A-Bye, Baby", etc), so I get the idea behind this one. And I think you did a great job depicting it! I love the statues and the overall composition.
I understand that the rose probably represents the garden, the ladies are the maids, perhaps you are trying to point out how does her garden grow with only those silver bells, cockle shells and pretty maids? but can you explain what's the main point here? You're right, I can't guess it xD;

Oh, I forgot... What I made was only based on the surface of the nursery Rhyme... this is the interpretation of the critics:READ HERE
