I know nothing about this anime, but just from your description I know there is a lot to this series. Wowzers! *still can't believe that's a man in that picture* O_o

This is very nice. I really like the traditional style of this picture too. Great job! I'll have to check this anime out! (I'm so bad with titles and stuff. If I can't get a feel for what the show is about via the title because it's in Japanese...., then I am not as inclined to watch it. However, your description of the show intrigues me!)

OK, what I'm about to type next is a bunch of spoilers. This is just an FYI to others.

My first impression of Nuriko wasn't a good one. And then when I found out he was a guy, I was like WTF?! Eventually I came to like him. In fact, I nearly cried when I came to his death scene. I really had no idea that there would be casualties of prominent characters in Fushigi Yugi, and for a long time, I was really in denial.
