Ah I know right? I love all the different types of art and crafts and photography on DA... I find it can be more inspiring to hang around there then here some days, seeing people post so much on DA. I'm currently quite active on DA. I've made an acount 4 years ago (nightscales.deviantart.com) and I have been periodically active there. The reason why I'm there and not here is because of the variety in art. I haven't drawn anime in ages. I get more advice on my dragons there because people are used to drawing the same stuff. Plus other fantasy designs really inspire me :D

Some things to think over for joining DA are
- Keeping two accounts active is more time consuming
- DA is humongous. Decide on when you want to start watching people. I only take care to watch potential friends or people who commented on my work. A lot of people on DA simply hit the watch button and don't comment. I've even seen artists on DA who have been active for 6 years but only made 500 comments. But on the other hand also artists who made humangous loads of comments.

There's only one way to find out if you like it there: get an account :P But just think on it and see what you wanna do. I'll keep stalking you here anyway :P

Yeah I zoomed in and then did hair strokes in the direction of his hair.. If something looks weird, I'd just undo it but other then that, the har details were easy.. just time consuming. But it was kind of relaxing to do too xD

^_^ OH thankyou for your feedback on my watermark too... no one usually mentions it so this is good to hear... I ended up plastering this with my watermark cuz once I had my art stolen and my mini signature in the corner was easily and cheaply blurred out :( so thats why I do bigger watermarks now... But I'll keep ur advice in mind for sure!! thankyou!!

Actually I used this cool tutorial on DA made for SAI paint program. It really helped me a lot!!! and then having a ref picture or a finished image in mind helps too... I find that practicing by eyeballing a ref pic is the best thing to do to learn at first :) and search up some photoshop videos and tutorials to get tips and inspiration. I can't find many good SAI tutorials but photoshop ones are plenty. I do hope u try more digital cuz its so fun and nice to have so many colours and tools in one spot^^

AH thanks! well first, I put some colour on, like general lights and darks in the right places, and then zoomed up and just layered everything with different coloured hair strands. It was easy enough tho, just a bunch of scribbling pretty much xD

When I first opened my otaku page I was blessed to receive a new dedication. I opened it and saw that it is from a dear and a very creative member and a friend.
I then opened it and actually thought that it was solid wallpaper with text splashed on it.. That was for the first five seconds though, then I remembered that they are your signatures and when I looked closer I also noticed that it is a painting. Being a realistic character it can only be a fan art kind of one I thought and immediately I knew that it was from you.

There, I wrote everything what I thought in about ten seconds period. These ten seconds were the seconds of the time that my eyes were seeing one of the most impressive things here.

Thank you very much for this gift, I am more than honored to receive something like this from you. ^_^

I think you made a mistake in your description, cuz I'm pretty sure your painting is perfect compared to the reference.

OH I'm so glad you're trying it right now!!! You can do it, Hanatan!! It helps to have some reference pictures of peoples' faces or the character you are drawing. and make sure the light is coming from the same place all the time. I find that drawing by shade is better then drawing realistic by shape, if that makes sense :] I hope you keep working on it, cuz you'll do awesome <3
