Do you have a sheet of plexi-glass large enough to fit over it?
My friend uses one to press her sheets flat for taking photo of her water colors. If you get a pad of water color paper you could always do a damp sheet water color on the plexi-glass.
I chose to do a series of self portraits without the head, where in each portrait I dress like a different one of my characters. I didn't draw the head because I am trying to show that I can take on multiple personas through my bodily gestures and clothing. My characters look different from one another and me as well. If I showed my head, I would look too much like myself in each portrait, which I believe would take impact away from my intentions. :)
