You mean the magic wand tool? I used that initially, but there were some extra pixely parts surrounding the image. I wanted to get rid of those. The pen tool makes for a smoother look rather than selecting the pixels bit by bit, but it takes practice to use.

There might be a way to select your drawing when it's on a white background. There's this tool (don't know the name) that when you select it, then the drawing, it'll outline just the drawing part. Then you can copy or cut it to put on a new layer so you can add your background. Or something like that. I need to learn how to use Photoshop before giving out advice.
