As far as why I don't love Mikasa, I think it's her uber co-dependence on Eren. I feel like all the other aspects of her character are such a departure from the typical anime female (and that's a good thing!) but that one thing is pulling her back into stereotypical submissive-Japanese-housewife territory. I mean, I love Eren and I know her back story so I understand why she feels so strongly for him. However, the extent she goes seems really unhealthy. Like when he mentions she should cut her hair... and she immediately cuts her hair. If he told her to stab herself in the eye... she would probably stab herself in the eye. I'd be fine with it if this was an area for her character to develop and through the series she ultimately realized she can care about Eren without her entire universe revolving around him... but I get the feeling that is not the direction the series is going. -__-
Sorry. I think my inner feminist got a little ranty there. But I hope that answers your question. I don't hate her, that whole thing just kinda bugs me.

@Shelynni
I'm caught up on both the manga and anime.
