As for the animators, you never know. A lot of research does go in to making movies. At least, I think so anyway. Even if they are weebs, it doesn't really matter. We were all like that at one point too, so even if it does play to the weeb side, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. I think of the weeaboo phase as kind of like childhood. It's overbearing innocence. So basically, if it's a disney/pixar film, having a sort of innocence like a child has is a good thing. I mean it is a kids' movie.

But yeah, it'd be cool of they respected Japanese culture, even if is pop culture. Though I understand why they combined Tokyo and San Francisco. I've been to San Francisco numerous amounts of times, and they have a large Asian community there. There's not only China town, but Japantown as well- one of only 3 Japantowns surviving, I might add- but it is very small. I actually stayed in a hotel there when I was 12, and to me- during my weeaboo phase anyway- it was awesome. If anything, I assume the animators might have gone to one of the Japantowns as well as the two major cities that are smooshed together for this film. But that's just an idea I thought of anyway. Probably they just went to Tokyo and saw all the pop culture, and came back and started working on the movie. Still, it's a nice gesture. XD

Haha I should hope they would! Honestly they probably just gathered a bunch of weeaboo animators and directors so hopefully they'll respect Japan and all it's awesomeness xD (Although the setting isn't strictly Japan, but San Fransokyo... STILL EXCITED THO)
