Huh, I've never heard of them being separated like that before but I suppose its possible! Some people get the paralysis and not the hallucinations but that's the first time I've heard of it the other way around xD Then again spiders are sneaky little arthropods... ;P

My boyfriend has had it a few times. He said that there's two parts: hallucination and paralysis? One day I woke up and saw 3 huge spiders hanging right over my bed, and I flung the covers up and slide out of bed and ran outside my room. When I looked for spiders or webs, there were none... My bf told me I must've suffered the hallucination part, but not the paralysis... was weird and scary...
As another person who suffers from it (or used to), I'd say this represents it quite well. But I agree, it's something so vast it's hard to capture.
