I typically don't do lineart for flowers. At least, I haven't since most pieces I manage are completed with some kind of painterly approach. Colored lineart, if anything on flowers, but that's just me.
I'd say you did a good job on the Lineart for the character at least. As for taking 5 hours to do it, let it be. I'm taking a lot more time finalizing lineart nowadays.
Have you ever considered custom brushes? They are handy in reproducing random leaves using the scatter effect. just about everyone uses them.
In this case, I'd "paint" colors of the flowers first using the custom brush. Next draw the lineart above it. Then add effects and style to match character. So technically, you start off with your character looking like he is holding nothing or something invisible. Or you can draw a "placeholder" object.
Wow haha I do the exact same thing with circles. I actually scribble the flowers in the sketch and I don't line them if I know there is going to be too many so I just paint on a layer on top of the lineart layer. But copy and pasting sounds much smarter.
Lineart is a jerk- but it's kinda' worth it sometimes...
The flowers are positively great here, and I can relate as to the dilemmaaaaa.
When I do flower filled pieces, I usually make (based on the space) three or four different flowers and copy+paste the daylights out of them. Then turn, flip, add and modify to my little hearts content and to make them seem different.
What do you do? . 3.

NO I like shinji. I just like to see him cry. I'm strange like that. And thank you for the tips and the reassurance.
