I can watch things ok but like I said if the voices only appeal to the characters age or only personality it takes me out of it you know? I will say I absolutely love the interview with the vampire movie, but after reading the book it's not as great anymore. Does that make sense?
I'm happy watching the things, I just often feel like they miss things out, and it isn't the same. But then I prefer reading usually anyway, as nice as it is to watch a film, it loses something because you don't experience everything as the author intended. I love the Discworld films that have been made, they did a good job, but nothing beats an actual book. It isn't that I'm a book snob XD I just enjoy the way they are written as much as what is actually happening! Even more so with anything written by Terry Pratchett hehe.
I'm not usually as bothered with Manga, as I don't read a whole lot of it anyway. I DO prefer to watch anime in Japanese with subtitles though, there are very few I can watch dubbed. In fact the only ones I can think of are Studio Ghibli films, and they aren't dubbed as such, they have a whole separate English speaking cast! Heh.
Also, sorry for invading your comments and babbling on XD
I know right? When it was announced they were making a house of night tv series, I wasn't excited in the least. Oh course after reading the third book I lost interest in the series entirely but for different reasons.
I'm even that way with some manga too. I refuse to watch some anime after watching clips because of voices. If they don't match the characters right it really takes you out of the story
See I do that when I'm down. I'll pick up a book and read it in different people's voices to lift my spirits. I challenge you to by sad while hearing Bruce Wayne's voice reading you a fantasy book. When I'm really down I pick zero super bubbly voice to read to me like Tamaki from Ouran. Hell I even do this when playing games without dialog. I imagine voices for the characters. It makes it more immersive and magical that way you know?
You're welcome! I find it fascinating too. I've always had a very vivid imagination too, and to think that some people don't is just so different. I'd probably not be such a bookworm if I couldn't imagine things visually like that. I LOVE books, especially fantasy ones, but I suppose I'd read more non-fiction.
When I was at uni, if I was struggling to read a lot for my assignments, I'd read in the voice of Stephen Fry in my head ahaha XD and yes, I remember smells and textures and music too. I've always been a daydreamer, I think I'm just so at home in my imagination haha. Makes me glad my brain works the way it does really.
Sorry for not replying sooner. Thank you so much for sharing this! It's absolutely fascinating! I had no idea this was something people experience. I can't even imagine not imagining things. To not "see" things in your head completely baffles me. Maybe it's because I'm so "hyper visual", but not "seeing" things almost seems sad to me.
I mean I can remember dreams I had back in kindergarten before spelling test day. I can recall sights and smell, I have a mental mp3 player and mental filing system. I love being able to visualize things like that. To not experience that...idk it's almost unreal to me. Thanks again for sending me this! I really appreciate it!
Well that's different. I didn't know that was even a thing. Thank you for sharing that with me.
As far as dreaming about people go, I understand what you're saying in both examples. Most of the time it's just fake people around me with a few people I know peppered through. Sometimes it's like you said I know the person for real, but there's something off about them.
As far as dream perspective goes, I have both. Sometimes I'm doing said actions but others I'm watching myself do them like a movie. For that matter sometimes I'm not even the main focus of the dream or even in it entirely.
I don't remember everything about the project because it'd been a large number of years, but the gist of it was things we do while awake influence what we dream about because of our subconscious. Then I used examples and clearly defined the parallels between them. From there I explained what each part meant with my dream almanac and explained the emotions behind each dream event too. Not only do waking actions influence what we dream about but how we feel about those actions internally. Dreams are quite literally products of our environment.
From there I turned in my dream books which I had thoroughly dissected each dream in the same manor as above, then went on to explain people can influence each others dreams as well. If their action leave a lasting "imprint" on the other person, no matter how small, it can help mold part of their dream world. Dreams are very interesting things to me lol
Jelly babies are yummy! I've never heard of Swedish fish XD that sounds so odd to me, but I suppose Jelly Babies sound worse really haha.
I try to write down dreams sometimes, but it I always remember really disjointed parts of them. Also most people in my dreams aren't real, my brain makes them up a lot of the time. Or (this is a bit hard to explain) but the feel I get for the person is someone I know, but they look different in the dream?
But dreams are interesting things, and I know people dream in different ways, like some people act things out in the dream while others sort of watch themselves doing things. I found out recently that someone I know has Aphantasia, which I didn't really know was a thing. I just assumed people were good or bad at imagining things, and some are more able to do so, but I didn't realise that some people don't have this ability at all. I read a really interesting article on it. I'll have to find it haha.
I'm now really curious about your science project!
Well it started as Iran idea but I didn't know how I wanted it to look. Then I sort of "brought it to life" so to speak, in my dream and this was pretty much the out come of the first summon. I'm a little fuzzy on detail but to the best of my memory, this is right
Uh this character/ OC thing is so cute and it so well described!
So you dream about it huh? that's cool. I'm very lucky because I remember almost all my dreams and they are usually very weird and amusing!
You know I've never had jelly babies? Are they good? I hear a lot about them but I've never tried them. The closest thing we have here would be Swedish fish.
I actually trained myself to remember them by keeping a dreaming when I was younger. I actually used it for a science project oddly enough. As soon as I'd wake up (even in the middle of the night) I'd write down everything I could remember in the dream. Since I've done that for so long I still remember good portions of my dreams. That's where most of my character and story ideas come from honestly.
That's the thing I can't remember if it was easy or horns. I remember appendages on its head but I can't remember if it's ears or not. I can remember basic ideas of dreams but not always super clear on details like that. I'm going to draw it the other way too to see what I think. Chibichibi said the same thing actually.

I think that's why I don't often like watching film adaptations of books, they can be good, but it just isn't the same as what I imagined.

I like the idea of these. Though now I kinda want some jelly babies to nom haha.
I wish I could remember my dreams more, they are often really vivid and weird, but I always forget them soon after waking up.

Looks a little bit like a Mew with transparent skin. Just an observation.
