IMO, I'd have to say that the two images are different styles. I do believe that the two have their own appeal. Since the one on the left is more cell type, it would make sense that people would be drawn to it since it was a representation of Hinata (cell drawn character). Also the color selection is bolder (darker black hair and colors more saturated). The shading is more consistent with the left. The one on the right has better depth with the shading (darker shades and greater tonal range). The right has soft shading and color blends, so that itself, means more complexity (the artist has to be careful with soft shading/color blends because it will ruin the purity/saturation of the base color). Also, the details are more present(hair strands, eyes, nose, lips, etc).
Overall, while I think it's a different direction with the style, I'd say it is an improvement. Great Job.
Thanks ^_^ , but Im so confused as to why people like the old one more lol. I just dont get it. the new one is more proportionally accurate and better detail and color. the old one seems pretty wonky to me. but to each his own I guess... it's like would you like this rusty old beat up car or this shiny new one? "I like that rusty one! .... yeah. lol
The shading in the new one is really impressive and stunning. Honestly, though, I love her face and hair in the older version better. But I guess that´s because that´s what I´m familiar with when it´s about your art. The Naruto-doll looks really fluffy in the redraw and more like him.
