mmm I don't know it's sot so bad, but you could continue the line of the face and show the jaw, maybe it could look better? I'm not sure, but continue experimenting, and remember references are your best friend (real life photo, not other people draws that could be wrong) this way you will not only get better but develop your unique art style too!
ahah i'm glad to help! pm me if you need something else ok?
Wow! Thanks for all the helpful advice! I kinda use basic shapes to start my line art, but I'm probably not making out as much use of them as I could. I'll do more research on it. And I agree with both you and groovy on the hair volume, I'll practice it in future drawings! By the way your digital art is amazing!(I especially like your wallpaper you did xD) It really makes me want to get better at digital art!
Heyo...This is nice work you got here buddy. I like the color blocking and the contrast value. I really do think this a great step forward.
May I suggest using basic shapes to help you place your line art. Example: If you use a circle as a template to use for the top of the head and the back of the head (basically the character is bald) you can see how to "overlap" the lines of the hair (give volume).
****Warning**** FYI Most Manga/Anime styles heads are "egg shaped" or "alien looking" so you might wanna check the shape before recreating the head structure. I do agree with what Groovy said below. I think that anime characters have a perceived volume of hair due to the fact that their heads are oddly shaped. One good example is the art I just posted here. Her head is huge when you compare it to the jawline. since you only see the hair and not the skull itself, one might think it's big hair volume.
above all...I really do suggest taking one step at a time. The more dedicated you are...the faster you'll get better.
Thanks soo much Groovy, you're always so helpful! Yep, right after I posted it I realized I drew a eye from a frontal view. (whoops xD ) And I definitely could put some more volume and highlight's in his hair. One thing that really stood out to me was where the chin connects to the neck looked off? I thought there was just something not quite right about it, maybe you know what it is? .-. But anyways thanks again groovy, you're great!!
That's not so bad! profiles are tricky! A couple of suggestion to make this image better it would to fix the eye, because it looks too big for a profile and also to give more volume to the hair. anime characters have very voluminous hair, here there's not enough, making the head look too little (drawing a rough sketch of the circle of the cranium on the back and then drawing th hair on top of it could help) also to make it look better you could add some highlights on the hair, especially on dark hair) continue to try and practice, practice makes perfect!
Thank you!Yeah they really are hard in my opinion as well. I'll definitely keep at it, You've been really kind to me since I joined this Site :)Thanks again!!
For your first time drawing a face in profile, this is pretty good! Profiles are tough (I still struggle with them) so keep practicing! Nice job with the shading, BTW.
