yes, my "mixing" is quite ambigious the way i wrote it down and yours is a good way to interprete it. i was meaning to "mix up" the 3 i mentioned and put them all together in a fitting way, tho, honestly, it prolly wont have as much impact as now after the mixing. it could be too much, after all. Still, i would really love to see it once...
CS6 is version of Photoshop that released quite a few years ago. The latest is now "CC" which is subscription based. CS6 is the last version that is 1 time payment only. I forgot to add that there is another program that I wish to try. It's called Manga Studio/Clip Studio Paint. From what I hear, it has all of the features that are useful for illustrating from Photoshop and adds more features that PS lacks. After all, photoshop was not meant to be an illustrating program but rather an image editing program.
I mainly use photoshop CS6. I've used different software like Paint Tool SAI, Krita, Medibang/FireAlpaca, Sketchbook, and Gimp. For some odd reason I end up coming back to PS. I think that PS has, overall, the most tools I use frequently. The other programs do have features that I wish PS had, but those features aren't as important as the ones that PS offers. Don't get me wrong, they are all great programs to use especially the majority mentioned, are free to use. I suggest trying them out to see which you like the most.
Wow that’s honestly really interesting to think about! I’ve never really thought about colors/contrasts and implying them like that. It makes perfect sense. I’ll have to try to implement that in to my own work soon as possible. Thanks for taking the time to explain that, it’s really helpful! Also if you don’t mind me asking, what art program do you use?

Mahalos for the feedback. I’ve got a ton of revisions and sketches that aren’t published. I’ve never considered posting those because I thought that nobody would be interested. Maybe I’ll post those in my other book (sketch and scrap….hehe duh).
I’m curious about what meant by “mixing it up”. Do you mean like changing colors and pose? Like variables of the same character?
Ooh, nice that you mentioned the #3 hair and #6 eyes. Like what I said earlier in Percy’s reply, our audience are drawn to higher contrasting elements in our drawings. So if you need to shift the attention to particular areas you can use contrasting elements to do so. So in this case, #3 hair has very strong highlights with the hair. So in order for that to work, I suggest that the illustration will contain a strong light source, instead of a soft all around lighting like a blank white background. Once you do that, I further suggest to keep the lighting consistent.
Also, I like having these interactions with everyone on this site.
I read somewhere (awhile ago), that our viewers are drawn to key things on our art. It’s the contrast. Or rather, elements that has the highest contrasting values/factors. For example: Box #6 you mentioned the eyes, well they have the most contrasting colors in the drawing, when broken down into elements. It’s the same pattern when drawing scenery and subject. If you want the subject to stand out from the scene, then add more definition and contrast to the subject and mute the background (lower contrasting elements/values). As for the colors, I’ve noticed that certain colors of a particular hue aren’t attractive as a base color. Simply, I’m thinking that the base colors work better with color that aren’t too saturated as those colors (saturated) don’t look natural.
Yes the shirt wasn’t really part of the revisions. Some of them had some work done though. #6 didn’t.
I used to delete my older drawings. I wished I’d saved them knowing they help to develop. The only bad ting is that they take up space in the hard drive. If anything, I now don’t see my older drawings as “embarrassing” anymore. I’ve accepted the fact that the time I’ve drawn those, it was just a factor of knowledge and skill. TBH, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. I really don’t think that an artist should frown upon their past works, I mean we all (including me) started from somewhere.
I still have the Note2. It’s my backup phone. If you really want to draw on the go and not have to worry about carrying extra hardware, it’s one of the best options.
its really nice to see your revisions so we can appreciate your works more. Honestly, for me Id like to mix it up a bit: #4 has the most natural looking shading for the t-shirt or what she´s wearing, #3 has the hair-color-scheme that´s drawing my attention naturally, meanwhile #6 has the most eye-catching eyes and skin-color-scheme. just my thoughts, tho.
I really like the your current style. The eyes are so vibrant and detailed it draws your attention to them. And the colors just look better all around. Honestly they all look good in their own way. I do think the shirt looks better in box 4 though, but that might just be because you didn’t focus on it in the other drawings? Overall your improvement and style changing through the years is awesome! I hope I can look back on my drawings someday and feel the same lol (Also I’m really amazed you managed to draw so good with a Note 2, I owned one and could barely write with it)

Okay thanks, I appreciate it moani! Is there a certain version of Photoshop cs6 you have to get for drawing? Or is it a 1 package type deal?
