Hmmm.... I think it's blocking out in my head where the shine should be so I don't color it. I also noticed by adding stray hairs it gives it a more natural look. Start with the light color and lightly skim so you get the hair "texture" leaving the shiny parts white and then shadow with the dark color and use a blender. Then I usually add the loose strands after.
