Hmmm. Well, first I shaded the whole thing with a dark red pencil and then I came through again with a brighter red which helped to fill it out. Once I scanned it onto my computer I digitally enhanced the colors so it shows up nicely. I think it's the mixed colors that make it look smooth. I hope that answers your question and sorry if I'm not the best at explaining things.

That's a very pretty dress. You used colored pencils, right? How do you get them to look so smooth? My coloring never comes out that smoothly.
And I think your bird looks good too.
