Title: Release Some Tension
The Story:
I wanted to try drawing a character from the Rave Master. Sure, I did Plue a couple of times, but that was about 10 minutes work at best. I decided to go with Elie for this one, and since it was around Spring Break when I originally did this one, I tried for a beach setting.
My Take:
There were quite a few minor changes to this effort this time around. I straightened out her hair a little, made her right hand smaller, and remembered the rings around her wrist this time, as well as evening out somewhere else… Overall, I am much happier with this effort this time around, that’s what another year of experience can do for you.
What I Like Most:
I’m amazed with how the background came out this time, I couldn’t remember how I did the water last time, so I tried something that looked ok, but I wasn’t satisfied with it. I tried doing plain colors, and that didn’t work out either. It wasn’t until a last minute idea to put them both together did I like how the water looked.
What I Dislike Most:
It’s the same old story on this one, her head is a little too small, and I’m not too thrilled with her right shoulder, or her whole right arm, come to think of it. I made a blunder with that armband, and I could have done better coloring the rings around her wrist.
Final Thoughts:
For those of you that are new to my drawings, I use a different style than you are used to. I have nothing against the original style, I just wanted to have a style that was different than everything else.
I titled this one “Release Some Tension” named after the SWV track of the same name, as the beach setting somewhat reminds me of this song.
Even though it was a pretty simple project, I still enjoyed doing this one because I happen to like the character. Eventually I would go on to make an AMV of this series featuring this drawing (the old one anyway), which can be seen here…
