Again, Here's another old artwork, but with a new background. I can't believe that I painted this in 2004. I didn't quite get the linework as I wanted it to look, but that was because I was still learning how to handle delicate linework. This was one of the early artworks of mine where I was beginning to notice that linework can make all the difference in how the overall work looks -- lines tie the work together.
This is modeled after those little Pinky toy figures. I still want to draw Asuka, but Rei will do for now. It's mainly colored with acrylic paints, but there are subtle watercolors in this artwork. I added some CG effects and coloring to the work because I was never happy with the background -- the DNA strand-like bubbles. They never worked as I wanted them to, so I had to add some extra CG. It now seems to look like a cross between a poster and packaging for a toy! Either way, I'm satisfied.
