Scratch the WIP in my last post, this is what I'm submitting for the VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) competition.
The other picture was actually reminiscent of Winnie the Pooh, unintentionally, and my art teacher and I didn't want to risk the judge being all, "I feel like I've seen this before..." So, I came up with this, which I hope is totally original! :)
I just started coloring it today, so it's not too far along, but if you can't tell, there is a little girl (Marcelline) and her abnormally large snail friend (Quasimodo) on top of a flying washing machine.
Here's the story in a nutshell: Quasimodo is being hunted by a french chef (Pierre Dufour) so that he can make the biggest, most delicious escargot the world has ever seen. Marcelline is an orphan living in a junkyard who befriends Quasimodo and this washing machine whose real purpose is to fly. Together, Marcelline and the washing machine try to get Quasimodo out of Paris, and in the process become the main characters in the best adventure ever.
Hooray! I'm having SOOOO much fun coloring this picture and elaborating the story behind it!!! I swear, I want to learn how to animate just so that I can make a trailer for it if it was a film or something! I'm already making a mock movie poster for it as part of our final Photoshop project in my BIMM class. Why not go farther?
It doesn't look like much now, but I'm sure you guys'll love it when it's totally done. <333333
