A sensitive moment between my two characters, Chiella (left) and Adam (right), from my story The Cartographer.

Chiella is dying, and knowing he can't do anything to prevent the inevitable, Adam weeps. Chiella strokes his face and tells him that he will be okay, he will be okay. She has come to terms with death, but she knows that it will be harder for Adam to accept that she won't be there for much longer. She has to be strong for the both of them.

As much as she loves him, all that she wants is for him to love again, not to dwell on the past. And at that moment, all that he wants is to hold her in his arms, to keep her with him as long as possible.

Theirs is a sad story, but it provides the basis for a extraordinary emotional journey for Adam in the story.

I love drawing them together, even though it always makes me want to cry. ; ;
