There is an issue I face.
So I love to draw. I draw in an anime/manga styling that also shows influence from what I've learned about drawing realistically and the like. But for kicks, I draw chibis. They're fun, easy, and quick to do.
And yet, they're so much more accepted than when I draw normally.
My high school art teacher who HATES anime? Loves my chibis. Same as the other teacher who taught photo (though she didn't mind anime as much). My 2D professor? Loved the chibi doodles. And really, everyone does. Everyone likes chibis. I can put hours and hours into a piece and present it along with some chibi doodles and the chibis are liked more.
Now now, don't get me wrong. I love them. I understand they're cute and appealing. But honestly, the fact that I can get away with them from my art teacher but not the regular ones? What's with that? Chibis are even more cliche anime than how I typically draw.
And they all look the same. Mine do, at least - same head shape and eyes and everything. Just hair and clothes get changed. But man!
Anyways...
Quick sketch, blurred greys, etc. etc. It's 2am and I donated blood earlier, so I'm not thinking straight.
