My entry for the "Ugly Animals" contest: the Montauk Monster! Check out the ugly on this guy.

Alright, so the first requirement of the Ugly Animal contest is that the creature must be an EXISTING animal. Well, I imagine if it has recorded and photographic proof than that means it's real? Although it isn't clearly defined as a species, the 'monster' has been sighted in several different cases, beginning in 2008.

Here are two pictures of the so-called Montauk Monster, reportedly washed up dead on New York beaches (warning - they're really gross):

"The "Montauk Monster" was an unidentified creature that washed ashore dead, on a beach near the business district of Montauk, New York in July 2008. The identity of the creature, and the veracity of stories surrounding it, have been the subject of unresolved controversy and speculation. It is unknown what happened to the carcass. Although the creature's body was never reported as recovered or physically examined, palaeozoologist Darren Naish studied the photograph and concluded from visible dentition and the front paws that the creature may have been a raccoon."
