Once again I figured I'd give you guys a look into the designers notes on the story. This time for the main breed of the story, the Magi. Once again I will type things out so you don't have to decipher my handwritting. I will state that both designs are still subject to change. Though the Magi design is most of the way complete.

Deffinition: The Magi breed, also known as the 'Forest Spirits/Guardians' are best known for their strange leaflets and the bone mask that adorns their face or head. They have a similar relation to the Dire Wolf, but have closer traits towards jackals.

Coloration: Generally one color coat, usually ranging from a chocolate brown to a gold or pale almond. Lighter colors are usually seen more on the males for courtal reasons. Some are even black in coloration, but it is extremely rare. Eyecolor ranges from gold, green, teal, and occasionally red.

Marikings: Magi only have three distinctive markings found on the head. One upon the forehead, usually in some form of circle. The other two are on each side of the head, usually behind the eyes. Some say the side marks are similar in shape to lightning. Another trait that isn't usually reffered to as a marking, but stands out particularly on the Magi breed is the bright teal to silvery tips on the ends of streamers lining their neck and back.

Temperment: The Magi are known for their gentle, yet very noble behavior. Usually mellow, but they are easily insulted and brought into a rage. Yet they are not nearly as stubborn as their Tessa cousins. They are known for being rather sly and untrustworthy, especially the younger females.

Courting: It is the male whom stakes his claim and fights for a mate. Yet when it comes to pup rearing, the female becomes so aggressive and territorial that she will even drive off the male. Making it so he can only draw near with something to appease her.
The male attracts attention for a mate through singing calls that are reminicent of a flute, followed by an elaborate display of glimering streamers in a dance.
Sometimes the pairs are lifelong, but most only last until the pups reach seven months of age.

Territory: The quick and agile Magi is primarily a tree dweller. Preffering to think, lush jungles of the running valleys.

Fur: Midlength to short hair coats. A water resistant overcoat, with a thin layer beneath for moderate warmth; considering that the jungle is a fairly warm climate, they don't require the think layers of warmth as the Tessa.

Legends: Tribal villages, and shamans in particular consider the Magi as the "Forest Guardians" or "Forest Gods". Stories tell of some Magi weilding the power to control the very being of the forest. In truth, some Magi can control some elements of nature; including the manipulation of vines or leaves. (Not the leaves on their limbs, they were born with those). There are even myths of some that even shoot lightning.
