Illustration assignment; I drew the word "void" from a lunchbox and therefore had to, well, draw it.
COMMENCE STORYTIME
I came up with the idea of future!Tati being a bit lonely and empty ever since her abandonment by a certain somebody. One of the ideas got used as a coloring test, but they all stemmed from a sort of "left at the altar" feel.
This whole drawing just sort of came about, especially with the inclusion of her younger selves. At each age, she had to face some sort of abandonment, but at least always had people to fall back on for support. The voids in her life were filled those three times, but not for the fourth.
That isn't to say she collapses, but rather shuts out that facet of her life. By the time Robyn gets mixed up in all this, she's dealing with a person who hasn't loved or cared for anyone in a long, long time.
I admit, things that happened in my personal life about a month ago had a huge impact on this project; not because of what I did, but because of how I was able to project those feelings onto Tati. It hurts and makes you angry all at once.
Tools: Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils, Liquitex Soft Body acrylic paint, graphite, and ink on 11x15" illustration board.
