Originally started as a sketch (as said below). I first submitted this as just a sketch a few days ago, but then decided to color it and whatnot. A birthday present for my friend, you can read the rest below when I first submitted it.
(Original words from when I first submitted as a sketch below)
A sketch I did in band of Takasugi from Gintama. I was bored and needed something to do and I had no inspirations for a real drawing (Ive been having an artists block lately). So I took out a sheet of loose-leaf paper and looked at a Gintama sticker I had stuck in my drawing notebook that my Chinese friend gave me, it had Katsura and Takasugi on it. So I decided to draw Takasugi, since I had just watched the Benizakura arc in Gintama, that and, he's so cute! ^o^
EDIT 2/22: My Chinese friend mentioned above has a birthday coming up next Saturday. She loves Gintama, its one of her favorites, she even created her own fan-fic of it, 21 pages. Its really amazing! I wish I could show you, however, she posts it on a chinese website called u17 thats in all Chinese, cause its a Chinese website, and when I try to look (which I only did once or twice with the help of Google Translate, cause I cant understand Chinese, despite the bit I know from Japanese) and I cant find it.
Anyways, she gave me the idea of giving a drawing to her for a present. Well, I decided to turn this Takasugi sketch into a card. So I outlined it with my markers, shading and all, and added the message in Chinese (again, using Google Translate, what would I ever do without you?) "Happy Birthday! Wishing you the best in all your years to come. From," and then my name in Japanese Katakana, cause I wasnt sure what the Chinese would write for my name. Even though they do have the full alphabet like us English (I have had a strangeness for wanting to learn the Korean and Chinese alphabets so I can pronounce things like names and whatnot when I see something like that) plus a few other sounds.
Im probably going to end up coloring this too, so I may repost it, so keep a watch out! I mean, cards are usually in color right? Not often you see a black and white one *nods and gets out the colored pencils*
