A user asked if I could teach them my style, so I decided to do a quick one-page summary of how I approach drawing. Normally I would charge for this, but since this is so quick it will be free for all theO users
LEARN TO STICK DRAW! This will help with posing and once you get the hang of it. It can really take the stiffness that plagues most rookie artists away (I still get that XD) The best thing you can do is break things down into shapes, mostly cylinders for the limbs. Try and draw light in the beginning, then flesh things out by slowly shaping things to what they should be.
BOYS:
-Tend to have square builds
-More bulk than girls
-Eyes are subtle, lines tend to be thin
GIRLS:
-Have softer, curvier qualities
-Usually less bulk, hips are wider
-More focus on the eyes, lines tend to be thicker
OTHER THINGS:
-Eyes tend to be larger & softer in both genders when younger
-Boys tend to have softer qualities when younger
-Evil people tend to have smaller pupils and sharper eyes
Obviously you can bend the rules once you learn them, and have to be bent when doing very specific character designs. But this is a general guideline for how I approach things. I even left my stick figures in to give an idea of how something so simple can give complex form once fleshed out. Enjoy!
